Know a guy, got a 2006 Gixxer 600. :-[
Had the same battery problem :'(
Just would not hold its charge. Replaced battery. That went flat too. >
It was the regulator.
Jump start it, then put the volt meter on to see if its gettin a charge.
hopefully will get time to investigate today......hopefully its a duff battery as its still under warranty i can go get new 1
ok my multimeter is dead.............i chargered the battery for 30mins and ir fired up....left it idling for 20mins.
now if the charging system was dead the battery wouldnt have lasted 20mins on idle with lights on and fan running. so i stopped it and let it sit for 15 mins and it fired up straight away no hassel.
i ran it over to my mates about 2 miles...had a chat with him turned bike off for 15mins....fired up again fine.
just been down town on it and its working fine.
only thing i can think of is
its either "one of them" things that just happened. or there is a drain on the battery..whilst its turned off.
any more ideas and advice much apreciated cheers
Dan
(i will try n find a multimeter to check its charging)
Multimeters are cheap enough on eBay, paid like £7 for mine? Hard to diagnose without a voltage reading whilst its running?
You SURE you didnt leave the lights on??
not possible to leave lights on...they come on and off with ignition. left it overnight with alarm set.....fired up no problem earlier i will go grab a multimeter later on
battery is holding 12.5V and is charging @ 13.8V should be charging higher than that?
Im sure it should be charging approx 14.6+/-volts?
it was charging @ 14.5 when i changed the stator and reg/rec....could it be the reg rec failing again?Originally Posted by 470four
