    Hey all,

I have a 'ticking' noise coming from my r6r, sounds like it is probably injector tick but when cold it's more noticable and bordering on a knocking sound. I've taken her to George Whites and they say its absolutly fine, but, it's definatly louder than it was and was not there when new... any thoughts? I'm on about 4,000 miles now, oil changed last at 600 and due at 6,000 miles.

Ideally I'd like to try and find a solution to get rid of it as I really notice it and find it very annoying, even if it is technically 'normal' or 'OK'.

Had similar annoying fault when I had my Gixer K7 more noticeable when cold. I mentioned this to GW's so when I dropped it off they left it for couple hours until cold and diagnosed Cam Chain Tensioner & replaced it and it still made a ticking sound. Has similar problem on a cbr1000rr04 & R1 07. Was told by GW's sometimes when the automatic tensioner is about to move to its next notch it might make a cam chain ticky noise.

Could well be something else...Guess yours is still under warranty

I Recently purchased a new R6 08 off GW's not ridden it yet waiting on fair weather ;D ;D ;D :'( If mine ticks at a standstill will let you know 8-)

N.B This may put your mind at rest, hope its of help... http://www.r6-forum.com/forums/showt...698&page=2

Guess all bikes have different traits.. :

I'm not sure mate, perhaps you could have a listen if you're at the Sally next week?

It could well just be injector tick and fresh oil needed (it's definatly worse when cold) but I have heard horros about camchain adjusters and all. I'm afraid I'm no expert but on a new bike, I'd have thought it would be much quieter!

We have a Yamaha dealer in Trowbridge called Pheonix. It might be worth while getting a second dealer opinion (from an independent)

    Cheers
