More bikers needed for Trowbridge to Bristol hospital toy run

Organisers of the annual toy run from Trowbridge to Bristol Children’s Hospital are appealing for more motorcyclists to take to the streets this year and show their support.
The event is in its 16th year and is held in memory of Nick Wynne, who died in a motorbike accident outside the Kings Arms pub in Hilperton.
Toy donations are sought in the run up to the event and on the day they are loaded up into vehicles at the Kings Arms.
In convoy, the bikers escort the donations to the hospital in Bristol before they are delivered to children on the wards.
Last year saw over 100 bikers take to the streets, guided by marshals, but organisers Mike and Megan Hayward are hoping this year will be better than ever.
Mrs Hayward, 28, said: “We want to make it a good day out. Because there are so many bikers, it is a nice feeling to ride in a group.
"It is the beginning of the season and is a good opportunity to get out with your bike.
“People see it as a very good cause. A lot of people know someone whose child wasn’t well and needed the hospital’s services.”
Bikers will meet at the Kings Arms car park at 10am on April 13 for refreshments before setting off at 11am. They aim to arrive at the hospital in Bristol at 1pm.

After the gifts have been delivered safely the convoy will return to the pub for an afternoon filled with motorbike stunt shows, a raffle to raise funds for the hospital and there will be a wheelie simulator.
Mrs Hayward, an operational support officer at Erlestoke Prison, said: “This year we are trying to do a whole day event. We hope to appeal to more bikers, get more people interested and raise more money.”
Mrs Hayward is also appealing for toys, crafts, books, DVDs and games donations, which can be dropped off at the Kings Arms in Hilperton. Due to infection control, cuddly toys and second-hand toys cannot be accepted.
