    Hi and welcome to WB.

Not exactly fun weather to start riding - you must be determined.

It allows me to get around

Went for a ride today though and it was great as there was no one about which allows me to get used to the bike and riding in general

It was very quiet today on the roads. Although they looked a little greasy I saw a couple of bikes when I was on my way to my mates this morning - in the car :P

Took it steady on account of conditions- also my distinct lack of fuel.

Can only do 42 so even if i push i cant go too fast

Good thinking regarding the conditions. You don't keen to be going very fast for it all to go pear shaped - I threw my Triumph away at a police extimated 55mph. Did the flight in the Air Ambulance and a few months off work and missed the best part on the summer of good riding roads all by hitting a deer!
