Tyre wear BT45

The GS Suzuki has dual compound Bridgestoe BT45's on it. I've had a previous set on it and the old man uses BT45's on his CB500 plus the bridgestones I've used on the SV, but I have never seen this before.

It apperars that the centre section of the tyre is not wearing with the edges, in fact the is now a distinct and visable (not to a camera unfortunatly) step out in the tyre where the compound changes. Has anyone seen this before?? Is it somthing to be concerned about?? The bike rides fine, and I have plenty of tread left.

Yeh, I get it on Dunlop Roadsmarts where the two compounds meet. Its more pronounced on my K1100 than on the GS. Just on the rear though as the front is single compound. Still rides fine.

What year is the tyre? The early dual compound tyres had little or no graduation between the two compounds, hence one wearing faster than the other, giving you a step!

Had this happen with a Pilot Power 2CT Michelin, now swapped for a Power One...

Was fitted in 2010, so can't imagine it being very old. The BT45 has been around a while though...

Contact bridgestone and explain the problem, they may well replace it as a mate on the fazer forum had the same problems

They will issue tyres in strict stock rotation, oldest first - tyre could as you say be years old??

There will be an oval stamp on the tyre sidewall with four numbers in it, say 0509.
The first two numbers will be the week number the tyre was moulded (00 - 52), the last two will be the year, in case case 09 - 2009 etc...

Cheers guys. Is still very rideable, will check with Bridgestone though. Sounds like it's not a critical issue.

Yeah my runaround seems to be rideable; but its not wearing very evenly and hates the whitelines ;D ;D
