    I'd guess that it's out of warranty Dave, so it shouldn't matter where you take it - do you know what the service entails? If they include valve clearances for a 12k service then they shouldn't need adjusting after only 5k. Shop around chap, try looking for a Triumph owners forum and see what other owners reckon...

    Top tip - if a dealer claims to have changed valve clearances and has charged you for new shims, ask for the old ones, they are yours as they came out of your bike...
