QUick question, I have digital clocks and the display is not showing correctly, its like some of the lines are not working.

Riding I can see work out what speed im doing (just) I've been told MOT centres do not test the speedo but when the MOTer switches on the bike to get the mileage, he will find it hard to read the mileage.

MOT due in 2 weeks and a new clocks are £460 which I don't have at themoment thanks to our lovely Picasso with a new clutch at £750 plus a nice cambelt service

here is some shots of the clocks

I think between the back of the LCD panel and the PCB is likely to be a plastic section with a conductive rubber like strip connecting the two together, or more than one. I would personally try seperating them and cleaning the connections up with IPA or contact cleaner - not sure about the rubber like bit though with cleaning solvents, then re-assemble checking alignment - I've not been inside clocks of that generation but have had my 1st gen ones apart off the falco.

    good luck!

Having been in a similar position 2 years ago you do not need a speedo for the MOT. The one on my Fireblade was completely blank and it passed. It may appear as a comment but should not result in a failure. As far as I know the recording of mileage is not a legal requirement anyway.

It may well be but its not a requirement for an MOT test.

Try Nick's idea, IPA (no, not the beer) is safe on rubber and electronics.

Have a chat with Griff at Aprilia Performance, see what he says about fixing it.

If you need a new one, Ultimate Parts are the UK importers for all Aprilia spares, their site has all the diagrams, part numbers and prices you will need.

Or get a used set off e-bay.
