Came across this news article and thought it was quite interesting, possibly a new way of igniting fuel in your engine.

Several years ago now [can't remember specifics] there was some work done to show that it could be possible to use lasers this way but it was unlikely to be available but I guess techno stuff has moved on as the article shows...yeah very interesting.
