    What a wonderful Sunday. Perfect weather for a ride!!!

    Did my first ever old bike run with the Bath Classic. It didn't start as planned, went to put fuel in the Triumph the day before, got a couple of miles from home and the clutch cable broke!!! Am unsure if that motorcycle needs a mechanic or an exosist.....

    Anyhow, Father steps into the breach and loans me one of his prized Velocettes.... Afraid, you bet! A 1937 (74 years old) 350, ridgid frame, girder forks and having to remember to move the timing at the right moments.



    Anyhow, a brilliant run of about 60 miles from Bath to Pewsey (the indirect route!!) along some wonderful scenery, especally ove the plains and all in all a great day to be out. Great to hear the thumping of old brit bikes and a great bunch of guys to ride with.

    Got home very sore but very, very happy. 8-)

    Must have been you that passed McD's @ approx 16.30--16.45 yesterday as I was picking the wife up from work
    Saw an old motorcycle go by and thought to meself wonder if its a WBer

    No, wasn't me. Didn't go near Mccy D yesterday. There were plenty of old bike around though.

    Good to hear you had a great day yesterday. We would have liked to go along but had been manning the National Rally checkpoint at the Magpies 2pm Sat until 8am Sunday so just had to get our heads down for a few hours.

    Lucky you getting to ride the Velo, gorgeous bikes. I bet you were grinning from ear to ear! 8-) Good job you were able to scrounge an eligible bike - Rich is strict on his pre 72 cut off date!

    Bath Classic specialise in indirect routes - we did about 60 miles from Bath to the H&C last year and have done about 40 or so from Trowbridge to the Sally! ;D

    He didn't enforce it this time. There was a 77 and 79 Morini this time.

    I wouldn't say grinning.... Grimace was probably more accurate. Got bounced about all over the place!!! Was a good day though and the bike was a marvel.

    Grimace? ;D I find a sprung saddle is surprisingly comfortable - mind you I've probably got a little more padding than you! Been miles over the years on my Ajay. Mind you, you get to watch the road for pot holes and take your weight on your feet if need be. It felt really odd riding a bike with modern suspension when I got the FZ1!

    It's comfy to sit on, but bouncy as hell!!! Hit a few potholes, and nealy got thrown out of the saddle!!!

    I'm the other way, am so used to modern suspension that the ridgid is odd.... it's the way the whole bike moves in relation to the saddle.
