Always wear them on longer rides, like ninja i've got a quiet lid but the added bonus of ear plugs just means you get less tired. The downside is when you ride without them you wonder if that noise...

My legs aren't long enough to get a knee down but I can my titanium heel plates down, nice sparks ;) lol

I tend to let them know I'm about, if I'm coming up too quick, just read ahead and give them enough space as I go past. Unless it's people I know then I might buzz them, ;D
