Sorry to hear that Lisa.big hugs sent ...xxxx :(
Some tw:t on an R1 turning slowly in the middle of the road feet down back toward lechlade with his mates faced me as I turned a bend. Instead of pulling onto the hard shoulder and waiting for a clear strip this douche bag was waddling his bike round.
Thankfully I wasnt caning it more a steady 60 I think it was a 60 limit there had been cameras nearby and was waiting on my fuel light knowing I didnt know the roads well and i wasn't far from my uncles place .
I had nowhere to go , oncoming bikers and cars prevented avoiding him totally and i made my best effort to brake hard and avoid him. Braced for impact and swore I went through him. I must've taken his front end out . I remember a crunch of impact then nothing until opening my eyes on the Tarmac.
Terrified to move I had landed more or less in the recovery position . Right hand under my chin head tilted left , left hand out stretched in pain and legs tucked under each other to the left . I could feel bad pain in my right shoulder , the hip with road rash from jacket and jeans gap and left knee and thigh pain.
I was terrified to move people were quickly on the scene an off duty policeman and biker took control checking on me and insisting nothing moved before police arrived (long after I'd gone) I lay there in bits asked first how the other biker was (arsehole got off with a broken finger ) and how my bike was and where it was.
My bike was 3 feet behind me but I didnt move in fear I was really badly hurt. I must've left the bike and had her slide down the road behind me.
The people there got me a blanket and 2 ladies and this biker , Al comforted me until the paramedic arrived and removed the glove from my injured hand to check pulse etc and did an initial breaks and bleed check.
The ambulance arrived moved me onto the spinal board 40 mins after the call and removed my trashed arai lid after me laying there forever wanting loved ones to be there crying with the shock and pain
Being the hero not wanting to be disorientated I refused morphine or gas and air and took the 30 min ride to oxford hospital JR whatever . Loads of x-rays came to no breaks a real surprise almost as surprising as my 58bpm heart rate in the ambulance , not bad after such a scare lol
My family aunt and uncle were called and were waiting for me coming out of x-ray we waited 2 more hours for observation and a little pain relief then I came back to theirs in Wychwood .
I've been very lucky. Gloves , boots and jeans all survived lid really took a beating as did my lovely retro triumph jacket and belt buckle.
No idea where my bike is or it's state , the policeman at the scene is going to visit tomorrow and I will call my insurance when i get home tomorrow if Kaz gets here .
I'm going to hurt for a while , right shoulder is really badly bruised and can't use my left hand for anything more than texting , no grip or load bearing , struggled to even get undressed tonight.
Thankfully no breaks so I'm hoping Tuesday I can run again keep me sane. Hopefully this git on the R1 will have total liability and all my kit, my bike and insurance will be sorted quickly and I will get a decent settlement for my injuries, however the luck I'm having of late will end up with a fixed bike and nowt else apart from a fine for having my tax disc under my seat and not on display!
That's bad. Why do we have to learn to u turn a bike for our licence, so we arn't f#*#*g around in the middle of the road to turn round. Stupid to consider anything on a bend of course.
Lets be glad you're still breathing and out of hospital and hope the rest falls back into place soon enough.
GWS!!
Get well soon Lis'.xxx

Not good, gws
Your alive, some what battered & bruised. Hope all goes well
Arse! >:( >:( Not good. Sympathies and all that and best wishes for a speedy recovery, hope the bike isn't too badly damaged. From an insurance perspective though you may be lucky to get a 50-50 :-/ Infuriating as it is when some ****wit is performing a manoeuvre of incredible stupidity, from a purely legal perspective his insurance (or solicitor, heaven forbid) could argue that you were travelling too fast to stop in time and that you share at least half the liability. Best check your insurance for legal cover and if you have it, give them a call, tell them the facts and see what they say.... :-? Good luck
Sorry to hear about your off. Sounds like you got away relatively undamaged so that's a relief :)
(Although I fear the bike may not have been as lucky :( )
I guess you're still a bit shaken after the accident as your explanation of what happened didn't make a huge amount of sense to me (but then I am dumb, so that might be why!) So I wouldn't want to comment either way on liability/fault. Needless to say the advice above about legal cover is all good - best to get that all started as soon as possible and see how it turns out.
Thankfully the police have examined the scene and said their bit and there's no liability on me the police report will reflect this thankfully. Without going into anything too in depth and legal as this is Wiltshire Bikers and someone may know the guy involved with him being from Swindon
All I will say is anyone doing a U turn claiming not to have seen anything coming with X - m vision is full of it... Too busy looking for his mates who had turned back for him , the 3 oncoming bikers on the other side of the road. He had his feet on the ground not moving and I did all I could to avoid it. All in the hands of the law the insurance and the legal vampires now :-) all I have to do is see my medical officer to check my soft tissue injuries and record for the insurance
Beautiful day to be out on the bike where I had planned to be spending my day
Oh that's good news, well as good as it could be under the circumstances. How can people that stupid have lived longer than infancy eh? Sadly life is too easy nowadays, and it's not just survival of the fittest and smartest, even the crassly stupid can thrive..... >:( ::)
Glad you're still with us chick!
Who ever he is, he is a CHEESE! >:(
Swift recovery for you and hope your bike isnt too badly damaged.
Sorry to hear this news Lisa, but I am pleased you are ok and wish you a speedy recovery.
Sorry to hear about this , wishing you a speedy recovery.
Sorry to hear this, hope you and the bike are up and running soon :)
BB
Bikes can be fixed, luckily you're OK!!
Swift recovery and I hope he coughs up.
Stu
Painful story. At least you are ok though. Happy healing :)
Could happen to any of us. Shame we have to not only be mindful of our own actions but of the actions of others too. The roads are dangerous enough without pillocks that that.
So glad you're ok, sounds like your quick reactions saved it from being alot worse. Hope R1 bloke is grateful you didn't just steam into him.
Hope you have a speedy recovery.
By your story it sounds like a nasty off, dount the bike will have been as lucky as you :(
But at least you are home and typing to us :) that's always good news
Honestly thought I'd gone through him , had I hit him I would've probably killed the guy or really badly injured him. I guess looking for 'the gap' was enough to wipe the front end off his bike and forks along with trashing poor Eris my triple.
I guess a little bit of experience mixed with a lot of luck and me being as fit as hell saved me. No breaks, just bruises and lots of emotion. (its a chick thing!)
Thanks everyone just feel at the moment if I didn't have bad luck I'd not have any bloody luck at all (those who know me will understand that sentiment right now ) x
Glad to hear nothing to serious, get well soon
You're lucky Lisa cos could've been a whole lot worse. Not unbelievable stupidity by R1 as it actually happened but wtf!!!!'shakes head'.
GWS and hope it ain't extended haggling on getting sorted...good luck :-*
GWS Lisa. That is really **** luck, but on the bright side you're good to ride again and bruises heal quicker than broken bones!
Really sorry to hear that Lisa - please take good care of yourself and I hope bike / kit gets sorted easily. What a total twat on the R1!!
Lisa, Really really gutted to hear about your off and sincerely hope you GWS.
I know its a cliche but as I have said many times at the numerous RTI's I have attended the most important thing is that you are here to tell us about it. The bike can be replaced whereas you cant.
If I can be of assistance in anyway, i.e. advice etc etc then please don't hesitate to drop us a line.
Have you had any indication from the police if they are looking to prosecute the other rider?
DD
Just read this post and my blood ran cold, really glad your ok Lisa i.e. no broken bones and hope you recovery very quickly. As for the bike it will get fixed [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Glad your ok, that's the main thing.
Agree with Caz, the bike will get fixed.
