Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
Ive decided to go for the kawasaki ER6F. Im looking at last year's model as its a bit cheaper and also because I don't like the colour of this year's model - apologies to all you green kwaka lovers out there! ;D
I have a choice between last years burnt orange, or standard black, and Im not sure which to go for. Half of me really likes the burnt orange and thinks that its different, stands out, is high vis and slightly quirky but the other half of me says black all the way, as its timeless and impersonal.
Not that Im planning to, but my head tells me that if I go to sell this bike in the future, the black would be more saleable than the orange - is this true?

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
Only a personal opinion, but I wouldn't buy a black bike. A difficult question really because 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. I would say whatever colour you prefer go with that. :)

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
I would choose Black - but guys do tend to go for dark rather than bright colours.
-
Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
IMHO I would go for the Orange over black as I can testify @car drivers@ are not looking out for bikes at the best of times and you need all the help you can get to be seen :)
If I was going to continue riding I would be seriously considering a Hi-Viz Jacket or waistcoat :-[

I'd prefer the burnt orange ..... more visible, a more interesting colour too.!!!! :)

timeless and impersonal. Black
look at your own descriptions and get the bike that you really fancy try not to see it in terms of a potential future sale I know thats not easy when the readies arent easily come by but If you really like the orange one get the orange one !!! :D

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?

Oh No its just registered !!! you two are A UNIT !!! just checked out both bikes and see the problem could be a bit of a domestic Id get rid of the Orange beamer mate if I were you !!! ;D

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
I'd say that if you want the orange one then go for it. There will always be someone who will want to buy it if you are concerned about resale :)

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
Black is the new black... 8-)

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
Depends. Is there a price difference on the bikes that you are looking at?
If there is are they similar mileage with same service history?
If not then go orange, it looks better than the black.
-
Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
Orange :) or maybe yellow ;D
-
Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
I wouldnt choose colour over condition, but if they are both the same apart from colour I'd go for the orange as its easier to see. Anything that might make you more visible to fellow road users has to be good in my book :)

Orange all the way IMHO [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
It's got to be black and it's the fastest colour, and it'll sell quicker when you're fed up with it. And you want have to start matching up any coloured panel if you prang it.

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
I am a huge fan of the colour black, but when it comes to either black or the Kwak orange, i would choose the orange, JUST to be different :)

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
I'd go for orange too, oh wait I already did :D Only ever seen 1 other orange er6 on the road in all my riding! Never been good at fitting in ;D

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
I'm sure I saw a newish ER-6 in Phoenix the other day... :-? Can't remember what colour it was though... :-?
I know you've made your mind up on what bike to go for, but I was talking with Barry in Phoenix yesterday, and he was saying that with all the mods you can do to modern bikes, you can always find a bike to suit. For example, if it's too leant forward, you can get handlebar risers. If it's too tall, you can get a lowering kit. If it's the wrong colour, you can paint it... ;) (You can ignore the last one) ;D

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
Mark I spoke to Barry today as I wanted to check before pursuing the orange one... the one in phoenix is green :'(
I know that bikes can be altered etc but given my back problems, the fact that I sat straight on the kwaka without any issues at all, tells me its the bike I want. Im going to be doing a 65mile round trip 5 days a week so I need something thats not going to aggravate my already significant back problem.
Also theres the minor issue of passing my mod2... See you Tuesday morning and pray for good weather! ;D

Re: Decisions decisions - is colour a personal choice?
I've been in the orange/lack decision corner too - I chose black, only because I like black, didn't want a clash with my purple helmet and the bike was in better nick.
then I stuck a yellow tank protector on it ::) (which I might dye black - lol) 8-)
Enjoy your new bike and good luck with your Mod 2 on Tuesday. Don't let Mark take you into Macdonald's or Subway ;D
