BMW, What have you done!?!
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/EDITORIA...GS_500x375.jpg
Hmmm Ugly? or what?
This is the road version, not the Adventure but I don't think that's going to look much better...
I always loved the look of a fully blown GSA but now? Seriously? The front head unit looks very similar to a Tri Explorer... no?
It'll probably grow on me...

Looks like you could spear someone with that!

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
Surely thay wont adorn the Adventure with all that breakable crap will they?
-
Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
The real change on this model is the engine as its going to be 65% liquid cooled for the first time on a Boxer engine. Those two side pieces hide twin coolers. The exhaust headers now exit at the bottom and the throttle bodies at the top. It produces 125bhp up 15bhp on the previous model.
Having an Adventure version myself I'm little concerned with looks anyway ;D ;D ;D The GS was never a pretty bike - part of its charm for me.
I thihnk its more in line with Triumph, Ducati et al in producing what is really a road bike with off road ergonomics without the intent to actually go off road. The Adventure version is 18 months away if normal BMW launch strategy plays its normal hand.
Did you know over 170,000 GS's have now been sold.

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
How is that more ugly than previous GS'?

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
To the loyal GS riders they will still buy & like it. Not for me though ;)

The previous GS, was, lurvvvvelyyyyyy! Especially the 2012 GSA in Triple black... mmmmm...
Snowy, I think it's a shame they are following the crowd, BMW was always the odd one out to me...in a good way... now it's following the rest, design wise. :'(

do you mean the whole bike? :P looks like its got a beak, might look better if it wasn't bright red?

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
New design. The front end looks the same as the Suzuki DR750 I had in 1988

Might look better with a stub of a beak that it had before... when it looked like a nice bike...

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
It's not really following the crowd though, they all use software to design the best bike/car/whatever, eventually the software is going to come up with same'ish bike whichever manufacturer it is. Look at sportsbikes, just choose your favourite colour and engine configuration, forget the manufacturer.

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
Dosen't look that extreme. I'm sure the BMW faithful will lap it up.

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
I think it looks ok but I think my next bike will be this

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
You going fo a GS Swanny???
I like them, but far too tall for me, even the lowered ones!

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
No that's a Triumph Tiger 800 XC
I was thinking of just getting a CBF1000 but am thinking more along the lines of an adventure bike now. I like the BMW but the Triumph appeals more at the moment

Go to the dark side ;) 8-)

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
The front looks like they have been raiding a Katanas parts bin.
I actually prefer the old one.

8-) I just think the older one had more mysteriousness about it!

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
I can't see me chopping my current one in any day soon - the marginal improvement is not worth the extra cash to me. Unless I'm unlucky I expect to see 100K+ on mine which it should reach quite comfortably. There isn't any other bike I want right now either. It was never a bike I dreamt of owning - I took one out for a test ride on a whim having tried a K1300GT and was sold on it inside 30 seconds. If you get a chance to ride one its a real hoot because the fun factor is so unexpected. I traded 60 bhp to get that smile on my face :)

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!

Re: BMW, What have you done!?!
Hopefully they've done something about the dreadful finish quality. Never seen so many disfiguringly corroded new bikes as the 1200GS!

Phew, thankfully I have an '08 which has not a speck of corrosion on it. Mind you, I have shares in ACF50..... ;D
