I think it's an age related thing in the same way as indicators. I didn't have one on my 1927 AJS but I think your trike is a year or two newer? :D

I think mine must be broken as it appears blurred between 0 and 70mph. ;D

Sorry to say dude for your age trike and the fact that it is not the original car anymore then yes you do (knowing this from the days of building Kit Cars).
