As we are not an 'official' club and we don't have a 'treasurer' so to speak of I think it's a good idea to publish what the proceeds (65% to club funds) are being spent on.
I understand this will be for the upkeep of the site and for anything needed for events that WB will be participating in. By making it public knowledge it keeps people in the picture as to what the money is being spent on and also can give people a nudge if they want to take part.
Maybe a post at the beginning of the year when it all starts to let people (old and new) have an idea as to what needs to be paid for each year and roughly how much it's going to cost and then at the 'AGM' a breakdown of what has been actually spent please.
That way people are fully aware of how much has been raised and if we need to up the game on fund raising or can manage on the proceeds of the 'club 100'
If all 100 numbers sell at £12 each per year, after the prize money there will be some £780 in the kitty each year I think. :o [smiley=thumbup.gif]

The reason we're not a full-on registered organisation with a treasurer, committee etc is precisely so we don't have to go through the rigmarole of publishing accounts etc.
We do make public everything that is bought with club money (eze-up gazebo, new server, new backup system, flags, banners, mugs for stock, donations to charity, calne club stand, castle combe stands, for examples). You can rest assured the remainder of any donations sits in the bank account ready for the next thing that's needed (e.g. when the server needed upgrading, it was done immediately without the need to fund raise in preparation).
Anyone who's not comfortable with full accounts not being published or there not being an elected treasurer shouldn't feel obliged to join in with fundraising/competitions - nobody should ever feel forced to do so!
incidentally the site was loss-making from January 2006 until March 2011
James, you have completely got the wrong end of the stick with my post :-?.
I think it's important to let people know just how much it costs to keep this site and WB running, that way people can see it’s not easy and that it needs their support ( I was one of the first to ask sue for 2 numbers for a year so I really don’t think I am not comfortable with it :-? The Club 100 is a great idea and a great way to raise funds)
It’s not full accounts but look at it as a good idea of informing us what needs to be paid for , if people know then they will be more than happy to help. I for one have no idea how much a server is or back up systems etc etc but I am guessing it’s pretty expensive so I am sure I am not the only one.
If you tell people how expensive these things are then I am sure they will want to help out rather than you be out of pocket like you say you have been for 5 years :o, you seem to have jumped down my throat for asking a genuine question :(.

Ahh ok my bad, sorry :) I'm off next week and will undoubtedly be bored, so will put together and example list of what we spent this year to give people an idea.
Luckily we don't have to pay for server maintenance because I do a lot of it for free and I also make the guys at work do some for free :D
Jeeze chill out dude!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I know I'm outspoken and a trouble maker in your eyes but it was just a suggestion! :-X
If people know how much things cost I think you will find it does help :) maybe they will take 2 or 3 numbers and not just 1!! ;)

I'm totally chilled hehe :p now I've re-read, i got the wrong end of the stick, and agree its a damn good suggestion! There are probably costs that nobody but me realises we have to pay so it'd be a good exercise to make them more public

Something for the AGM i think, its a fair point can't argue, and I know there is a 100% trust in Dabz, and rightly so, there's not many I would trust, but he would be at the top of my list, plus it may work in a good way, you guys might think of something we need, and could suggest it, then we could raise the funds someway !
( no scotty & chappers we don't need to new track bikes)
;) ;)
Perhaps we could make it a 200 club, my golf memberships due! ;D ;D
