The male end into the computer is faulty. If normally inserted the problem occurs. Had to pull it out a mm or 2.
I worked it out when I watched an old nfl game. I could hear the crowd and wind but not the ref or commentators. Also on my 'All Over Now' vid, I could only hear the chorus and not the verse. Very weird.
sounds more like the pc end is the problem unless of course you get the same issue plugging into other sources, you may need to get a USB to 3.5mm jack converter for the pcQuote:

If I plug the 'phones directly into the computer, it works OK.
I think the ext. cable is damaged internally. New one en route. 2 m long, gold plated bits and including postage......£2.79
