Re: Bleeding front brakes
Replaced hydraulic hoses on my XJ650 and was having trouble to start the bleeding process off when I remembered this topic.
Found a syring in the first aid kit and within a couple of mins had brake fluid at the calipers, then left lever tied up overnight and job done.
Well done and thanks to all those useful suggestions on this site keep it up [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Re: Bleeding front brakes
I use a small jamjar with brake fluid in it, put a pipe between that and the bleed nipple, loosen the bleed nipple, put fluid in the resivoir and pump the lever slowly, topping up the fluid as required.
Re: Bleeding front brakes
Yes Jon W - started off exactly as you stated but could not get brake fluid to pump through header, bear in mind completely new pipes fitted full of air to start with. Syring was the solution for me!
Re: Bleeding front brakes
Keep going.... it will come eventually. That's what I've always found.
Re: Bleeding front brakes
syringe takes seconds...... good tip there by JD, hes a tip top chap... ;-)
Re: Bleeding front brakes
JD is alright....but that JayDee bloke....
Going to use some of this syringe action next weekend on the ole brakes, where can I get the tubing from?
I was given loads ages ago but I can't find it now.
Re: Bleeding front brakes
thinki the tubing from windscreen wipers is about the same size, possibly resize with a lighter held under the pipe end to make it just soft enough to mold over the bleed nipple......
loads of that for free (100% reduced, buy none get one free, 5 finger discount, car park spares, pocket spares, pocket discount card) from a car breakers..... :-)
