I'm a nodder at all bikes (except maybe scooters if there's a bunch of them) learners an' all! However, i spend most of my riding time in Essex where most bikers don't bother nodding!
I find it much more friendlier down in the South West than anywhere else so keep up the good vibes Wilthire Bikers!
Yes, I've been nodded to when off the bike but in bike gear - it lifts the spirit!Quote:

Nod ;)
Nodder at all bike maybe not Scooters but 125cc get a nod as they are nearly full riders ;D
I caught myself doing a lifesaver while walking through a supermarket the other day.....you can't be too careful ;D[/quote]Quote:

However I wouldn't describe myself as a 'Nodder' as 'Nodder's ' was slang when I was a kid for condoms!!! Nope definitely not a nodder but I do acknowledge other bikers ;) ;D
i agree with that, but there are a certain handful who i'm sure are quite different. :)Quote:

There's a knack to "The Nod." Do it too early and the other rider might not see it. Do it too late and the other guy/gal doesn't get a chance to respond (if he/she was waiting for you to go first).and both nod at the same time no one knows lol :)
Dabz, we call the Audi things tiTTies... ;)
Willy, the answer is to wave... :)
I wave/nod/shake my thing at everyone, regardless of bike. The Goldwing thing surprises me, as I've normally found the most enthusiastic wavers were quite often 'Wing riders. I recall a whole gaggle (if that's the group terminology?) of 'Wing riders waving so enthusiastically that one pillion nearly fell off in the process. Quite a feat, considering the pillion normally has naffing great armrests. The lack of acknowledgement from the HD fraternity, normally comes down to the fact that it's someone having a mid-life crisis, not realising that there is such a thing as a brotherhood of bikers. And let's face it, the average Accountant/Solicitor/Sexual deviant isn't normally friendly to people in their regular life... [smiley=happy.gif]
I'll even nod to a Tory Liverpool fan on a moped - after all, "We are all in it together" ;D ;D ;D
What about Rupert Murdock on a Virago?Quote:

Today I have a Harley loan bike and I have noticed different reactions to me.
When I'm on the Ducati some cruiser riders won't nod and when I'm on the HD, sport bike riders ignore me.
But I'm not fussy, I'll nod at anyone.
I will Nod or wave at just about anyone, as Hizzy say's sometimes in the car or the work Lorry :D :D
I think its just a polite thing todo but if there is alot of bikes coming towards me I tend to just put my hand up until they have all gone by :o :o
I nod at every biker, even some chicken chasers. About half reply and had noticed gixer riders always do except 1 so far.

I nod to everyone unless I'm to busy concentrating on my riding. Even the 125s because I always liked feeling included when I was out on mine 8-)
I tend to pass the same people on my way into work though and I've noticed alot of them don't return the nod even though we've passed multiple times.....
But I did get a big thumbs up from one particular rider that always exchanges nods - he clocked the new bike ;D
Wave if safe to remove my left hand from the bars otherwise its a nod
After today I have a new theory! Good weather = lots of nods/waves bad weather = no nod/waves.
On another note I got possibly the most enthusiastic response to a nod ever, was quite heavy traffic in both directions the opposite side was at a standstill but my side was moving 20mph ish I nodded and got a very energetic double handed wave in return, was a bit odd but brought a smile to my face
I Always nod (unless I'm cornering at speed)
I always nod and mostly get a nod back! :)
i always nod, i will return a wave tho, and i wave if i'm in the car, always have, the only time i dont get nod back seems to be on the motorways
That's because all Gixer riders are gents!Quote:

hmmmmm do it rhyme with fixer????
i do a more of sideways nod, helps keep the eyes on the road. I even nodded to a group of jam sandwich bikes in ascot one evening. (through gritted teeth, i thought it might aid in there decision not to pull me)
