Very very sad day :(
A very very sad day indeed.
RIP to No 58. Thoughts go out to family and friends and also to Edwards and Valentino who must be feeling awful at the mo.
RIP SSB
Sad event real tragedy
Marco Simoncelli #58 R.I.P - absolutely gutted, great personality, great talent, will be sadly missed in the MotoGP paddock for years to come!
I saw this this morning and it was a truly horrific collision :(
RIP Marco. A sad loss to the sport. :(
So very sad.
Hope his family and friends take some comfort from the pleasure he gave to many worldwide.
Sleep tight Marco, you're now riding with the angels.
My thoughts go out to Marco's family and friends and also to Colin Ewards and Rossi, can't imagine what they must to going through.
Missed with tears, remembered with smiles.
RIP Marco,
Thoughts go out to his family and friends.
Jo and I were watching it live this morning and still feeling shocked now, A sad loss to the world of Moto GP.
Impossible to put into words.....so I will use someone else's
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away
Rest in Peace Marco. You always took our breath away.

rip marco
Marco was the one rider that made MotoGP interesting. With Rossi being off form, it was Simoncelli who made the racing exciting. The sport always remembers the riders that make the spectators stand up and gasp. He'll be sorely missed.
Marco's funeral scheduled for Thursday, October 27 at 3:00pm in the church of Santa Maria di Coriano. He will be buried in the cemetery of this town, near Riccione, where he was born 24 years ago.
:( :(
Sad loss and so young.
A terrible loss to the sport, one of its true rising stars :'( Since getting back I've been catching up and watched the Phillip Island races last night - good to see SuperSic get his best ever result in the class, the win was surely on its way before too long.
Sure, he ruffled a lot of feathers amongst the prima donnas in the sport and his riding was maybe a little bit too much "take no prisoners" at times, but it was great that he was no respecter of reputations and he probably loved the fact that the Lorenzos and Doviziosos were bad-mouthing him.
Top bloke, great racer. They all know the potential risks, but nobody could have envisaged such a terrible way to go.
Ride on Marco, you were the biz mate 8-)
Rest easy Marco :(
.
Horrible accident, but when you do 120 mph anything can happen - we never want to even think of worst end, but this is a risk when pushing our bikes to the limits.
Big loss to sport
R.I.P. Marco
If only he hadnt nearly saved it with his knee... Just goes to show how much sidegrip there can be! A great loss. :(
Lovely tribute in MCN this week. Back page says it all really.
What a complete and utter tragedy. Must admit I had no real interest in watching Moto GP, only watched it to see how Simoncelli was doing and really wish I hadn’t Sunday.
Who remembers when we had ‘personalities’ (back in the days before vacuous ‘celebs’) and our motorsport heroes weren’t robot like perfection? Here was a rare proper old style racer with personality aplenty. And my god, was he great to watch (and good to look at)
God bless
There's a nice tribute video montage on the BikeSport News website
Just watched it....very good tribute .
:) :(
Are Thoughts Go Out To His Family And Freinds R I P Marco Simoncelli Will Be Missed
Sorry this is a bit late but i watched it when this happened and knew it was bad...
I am a soft bugger and watching these tributes brought tears to my eyes. Before that horrific weekend to see Marco on the podium was great! He was something special. I dont class him as a dangerous rider, he simply wanted the best and to be the best...
sometimes being number one involves taking risks...
RIP Marco!
xx :-/
A tragic lose to the sport.
Lessons need to be learned though. Marco was killed instantly but it did not stop the over enthusiastic marshals simply bundling the body on a stretcher and then running off the track.
On the way one of them managed to drop the stretcher.
If he had just been seriously hurt and just unconcious their actions could have had serious implications
