I must say the Beemer owners on here do seem to be an exception to the rule as the majority of other owners I meet are sooooo boring and thats why they want rid of them ;D

Well I'm now back to Bikermouse - got a surprise call this afternoon to say the bike was ready for collection. However I'm not actually too impressed as riding it home and it lost power and cut out on four separate occasions (all at 60/70 mph) - so just like having my old CBR400 again. Phone call to the Service Department on the cards first thing on Monday morning as it was in perfect working order (other than having been on the recall list) when it went in.
was it a lack of fuel lost power or what happened? How far did you travel when it happened?
Hope you get it sorted KJ. It does seem linked if the bike goes in for a recall on a fuel valve and afterwards exhibits all the signs of fuel starvation.
Oh dear. Not good. As Beemerman says, it sounds very much like the work has disturbed somthing.
Hmmph! Update is that I called the Service Manager this morning and was told, in no uncertain terms, that I should reserve judgement on my thoughts until such time as they have the bike back and can see what's what :o. Now, forgive me if I'm just a dumb female biker, but the bike went in in PERFECT working order (it only went in because of a recall by Honda!) it came out, in my opinion, in less than working order. To add insult to injury I was asked to get it back to them. When I suggested that, for obvious reasons, I was NOT riding it back I was asked if I had recovery/breakdown cover and it was suggested that I use this service. Beggars belief really. Having checked with RAC I am NOT covered for more than 10 miles recovery and, added to which I haven't caused the issue with the bike, so don't see why it needs to be my problem >:( >:( >:(
I've phoned the dealership back and told them that RAC will not be used (unless they would like to fetch it when the 10 miles between my house and the dealership has expired ;)) and, all of a sardine, the Service Manager who lives not a million towns away from Devizes, is going to come here this evening to collect my bike (leaving his bike in my garage). Best of British luck mate, hope you don't intend going over 40mph because if you do I hope the back wheel locks up like it did on me :-[ Best I not get any form of bill for the work either because all hell will break lose!
To answer your earlier question Stu, I had gone approx 5 miles from the dealership when it cut out (loss of power and then the engine dying) when I was travelling at national speed limit (which on that particular road was 70mph), - thankfully I was in the inside lane with no traffic behind me - all I needed was a shove up the jacksy by a gurt Truck!) - it then did it again approx 5 miles later at 60 mph (Wroughton to Devizes Road) and the third and fourth times on the Beckhampton straight at approx 55/60 mph. Thereafter I crawled home at a steady 40mph without too much drama. However, anyone that knows this route will know that there is little or no phone signal along this stretch and, even if there was, the dealership had closed at 5.00 p.m. Thankfully Paul was with me because I would have been less than impressed being stranded on my own.
