Deer Deer...
Now as some of you more senior (and I mean in time on here not age!) members on here know, a few years a go I managed to kill a deer with my bonnie. This meant I had a ride in a helicopter and a spell in hospital and have some long term damage I can live with and my bonnie was written off. :'(
Now I just had a phone call from a friend in Bath Classic who tells me on Wednesday night out on his way home from the pub meet, a deer leapt out right in front of him over at Wingfield. This made him lay down his Multistrada - which he has only had for a week. Fortunately he is only scuffed up, as is the bike, and both will soon be back on the road. The Deer ran off safely [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
At work I get to see the after hours call out log everyday and it seems to me a night doesn’t go by when there isn’t at least one dead deer reported on the highway requiring collection – and that’s just the ones that are reported at night. Talking to a colleague he tells me it is the rutting season and the deer are especially stupid at the moment as they have other things on their mind than dodging bikes. :o
We do have an amazing amount of deer in Wiltshire, so I want you all to take care and not kill them – unless it’s planned and preferably with a gun. Using a bike is not recommended. So take care out there people, especially at dusk when the deer are most likely to be moving about.
Stay safe 8-)

Re: Deer Deer...
I hit a deer with an old car of mine, thankfully only a bambino but still made a mess of the car!
Watch out around Colerne airfield as well, when I was based there we had 4 of them which were regularly found grazing and used to go sprinting through the hedge when we went near by.

Re: Deer Deer...
My mate had 2 deer jump out on his car once so both the front and back end of his car was a mess, for such a small animal they can make a mess.
I hope your friend is ok BB

Re: Deer Deer...
He's ok, just feeling a bit 2nd hand and fed up as you can imagine. He tells me he is scraped about a bit on his knees, etc and got a lovely bruise on his hip (and no I haven't seen it personally!) plus a few other bruises & scrapes. Wrote off his lid & bike jacket and his JEANS :o
He never rides in jeans and we only had a discussion about the stupidity of some people riding in ordinary jeans a couple of weeks back! ::) So the one time he does... :P He reckons he would only have a few bruises if he'd had his leathers on.

Re: Deer Deer...
One nearly had me on the way to Lyneham at about 3 in the morning :o
Missed it by inches and I was going pretty quickly so it would have been a right mess :o
Hope your mate mends soon - bet he's more gutted about the Strada isn't he?? ::)

Re: Deer Deer...
Hope the fellow Bath Classic member is ok, I have to admit deer jumping out of the hedge does worry me esp around Bath and Wilts countryside. BB..If it's not deer I seem to remember it's foxhounds you need to watch out for too :o ;)
Take care guys and girls

I'd forgotten about the foxhounds! ;D and that was in broad daylight!! he was lucky too!
He is a bit ticked off about the Strada, he has only got a couple of weeks until we all go to the IOM but knowing him the strada will be going! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
