It's official, reopening service centre as some other name but Gillingham finished.:(

That was a good cafe too

Oh rollocks, I thought something was up as they were closed when I popped over Thursday to try and return a helmet I had bought for me lad that didn't fit him, fleabay beckons for that. More annoyingly I only two weeks ago bought a second hand V85 from them and they agreed to fit a pair of genuine Guzzi heated grips as part of the deal but leadtime for them to come in was a few weeks. Looks like it'll Oxford items for me now.
Pity as they had a good range of manufacturers, usually one or two interesting second hand bikes and even their kit wasn't silly prices, and of course for the fair number of bods employed not only in the dealership but in the cafe. They won't be the last sadly given the ever worsening economy.

Hopefully the service centre will continue, they've been looking after Guzzis for years and one of the few main dealers I trust with my bike.

Oh dear... I wasn't a regular visitor but it was a nice destination with a good cafe. I'm not fully au fait with their product range but aside from Enfields it appeared to be largely high end stuff. Potentially a weak business model without the regular turnover of smaller capacity bikes to keep the money coming in. They weren't big enough to have the volume clout and discount potential of Blade or Fowlups.
Another avenue of choice blocked off, sorry for the staff and I hope that no customers were left out of pocket.

I always thought they had a good spread, Enfield, KTM, MV, Aprilla and Guzzi + always some decent second hand stuff. I would have thought that with the cafe they would have had better cash flow than many other dealers but you never know how a business is structured, financed or ran from the outside so perhaps it wasn't totally market driven that they closed.

Bath Rd. motorcycles in Bristol have closed due to the council making it impossible to park any where near and moving a bus lane to their side of the road (A4)

The main showroom area is separated off from the cafe. Lots of KTMs still there but deffo out of bounds.

Yup, was one of the first Honda press bikes, an early 2016 in black. Perhaps I'll get it cheap ; ) I need to pop up to MC to see whether the deal on my heated handgrips for the V85 will still be honoured, looks hopeful tbh as I wonder whether the closure isn't a usual business winding up thing more an unwinding of a financial agreement.

Interesting.
So will the original Gillinham Café Corsa keep the name or will the new café at Moto Corsa be the Moto Corsa café. If you say meet you at Moto Corsa café will you be at Asbmore or Gillinham?

Yes, good point
There’s coffee at both. So If your mates go to the one you’re not at, you’ll be quaffing on your own :D:D

I was there for lunch yesterday. It’s looking good :)
The display of motorbikie exotica, as impressive as it is, badly needs a Buell in it ;)

You got me, easy done, I'm not the quickest :D

Mind you, still good to hear you got a decent ride in. I've been laid low by man flu for nearly two weeks now, felt a lot better over the weekend but still not up to the concentration needed for riding so fingers crossed I'll be okay for a ride out soon. The Himalayan is begging to be ridden is this mucky weather ; )

The weather is looking rosy tomorrow so I might pop out on the S1 for a bit
There won’t be many more opportunities I doubt.

When you’re back up to speed Trev, best we go mooch about some lanes & splash in a few puddles :)

Was the ride to Compton Abbas any good? We're looking to make the most of a dry mild day (plus the fact that we missed the window to SORN the road bikes at the end of October like we normally do) and squeeze in a wee ride with the Hampshire Superbikers - a decent bunch who we've got to know this year.

Sorry I missed this although wouldn't have been able to catch up as Mrs Smith and I popped over to Frome on the Guzzi V85 for a nosey around some of the great independent shops in Catherine Street then zig zagged back the long way, 'twas a gorgeous day and great to get out on the Guzzi again as not ridden it for nearly three weeks. I'm off to Cornwall on it next weekend for a 48hr down and back coastal wiggle, the more I ride it the more I enjoy it although really need to get the heated grips fitted now
