Hello,

I’m looking to start a bit of a vintage restoration project. I’ve bought a beaten up Honda CB450 and am aiming to restore it to its former glory. I love café racers and the Black Bomber is one of my all-time favourite bikes. I lived in Asia for a while and there are a lot of these old bikes around, which whetted my appetite.

Ultimately I want to end up with something that looks something like this:

It’s pretty far from that at the moment but I’m sure I can get the old rustbucket up to scratch. I’ve been looking at vintage bike stores online (http://www.for-sale.ie/honda-cb-450) but haven’t had much luck in finding good reconditioned parts so far. Does anyone have any pointers as to where to pick up good parts for a Honda of this type – either online or somewhere in the UK?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Good luck with the project, will be worth it it if ends up as tidy as the one in the picture. Bike specific owners clubs or forums might be a good place to start, Honda owners club maybe?

what about mr old Honda spares? David Silver http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/parts/by-model/, they take Honda UK spares for bikes over 20 years old and buy them back off him when they get an order, also http://www.cmsnl.com/honda_model8286/ in Holland, but ask them about availability as I had to wait for back order 6 weeks when I ordered online for a customer.
http://www.bike-parts-honda.com/honda/model/CB/450.html both the last two have schematic parts books which are a great help, if you find something , part number search on ebay, may bring something cheaper especially on ebay usa, no worrys buying from there as its all covered, usually cheaper despite postage charges. I did a Honda atc 3 wheel and the sprockets and brake cables were cheaper than a UK sprocket!!
