Camera mount suggestions

I'm going to buy an SJ400 video camera but dont want to stick it on my helmet.

Can anyone recommend a good way to mount it on a sports bike where it's not going to vibrate and show some decent footage?

Depends on why you're filming your rides.
For peace of mind helmet is probably best as it films what you see.
For homemade racer movies then the lower the better as it gives a greater sense of speed. If you're doing this then it pays to mix it up as the same view gets boring for anyone watching. You can then edit them together.
I mount mine through the headstock nut.
Gives a good view through the screen which also protects it from the wind.
Try experimenting with positions then you can see what gives best results.

Mirror stalk can do well depending on your mirror. Video in this link the cam is on my lid but if you look at the left mirror you can see where I bodged a mount for it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkzBGMuUAc8 . My mirrors are quite "meaty" though so vibration is not an issue, a lighter thinner stalk may not work.

Thanks Alan that's another great idea - hadnt even thought of putting it there. Already use a RAM mount for SatNav hence couldnt use that again but that would work with a extension added.

Was that after reading my post? :) If so, I hope you will be as happy with it as I am. From experience I would just mention one thing. Most of the settings are retained when the battery is removed, but the one thing I have found that isn't is the date and time, so this can be a pain, especially if you date and time stamp your videos. What I have found is that if you change the battery quickly, it doesn't loose its setting, so before I pull the dead battery out, I have the replacement in my hand already orientated the right way so I can pull and replace in a couple of seconds which solves the problem

it was, and also a post on the 675.cc forums which raved about them too! We needed one for work luckily so it'll be dual use, bike and work, which is handy. Thanks for the advice re the battery.

How is yours mounted above then, is that into the frame?

Mine is mounted just in front of the tank on the steering damper bracket which is now redundant as I had to move the damper to fit the handlebars

That one isn't a secam one mate, it's a copy of the sj4000. Identical in every way except the firmware is different so doesn't benefit from updates to the chipset and whatnot. I spent ages watching videos this morning about secam sj4000 vs fake ones and then searched for the cheapest that's an authentic one. Which is a bit ironic seeing as the whole thing is itself a copy of the gopro!

Mine is the older non-wifi version, but I didn't need the wifi option. There are some fake ones around but you can tell these as there are some differences especially with the waterproof case and the packaging. Mine is definitely an SJ4000 and I think that one that I provided the link to is, but again it is the older non wifi version. These days on line purchases are a real crap shoot, so many fakes around
