Did anyone watch this? It was looking at the laws against motorcycle clubs in Australia, albeit patch clubs rather than pleasure riders.

In some states laws have been passed preventing more than 3 bikes riding together or meeting and have labelled the HAs and Rebels as "criminal gangs". Absolutely crazy - I understand the links between crime and patch clubs but it's labelling all members as criminals. Why not do the same to other groups like sports fans (rioting football fans) etc?

Didn't realise Australia was such a nanny state

I hope the man on the street in Oz has heard this quote

First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

because if they allow the people that made the current "bikie" laws get away with it, then they will carry on enacting oppressive legislation.

Could not agree more James. Programmes like this and Benefits Street really annoy me. Fortunately attitudes towards football fans here has changed in more recent times. I followed Man United home and away during the 70s and 80s when hooliganism was rife. We were all treated like caged animals and tarred with the same broad brush. When trouble flared, on many occasions I witnessed the police wading into the crowd brandishing batons and striking out indiscriminately at who ever got in the way. Really made me bitter towards the police for many years. I believe we should always avoid stigmatising whole social groups because of the actions of a few.
