Signed! It's always annoyed me that Castle Combe are subject to noise restrictions yet everyone who lives in range of the circuit bought their properly knowing it was a working race track. Their complaints affect both combe's income and the local economy

I remember chatting to Howard Strawford about this some years ago. He said they were constantly fighting noise complaints throughout the year. You'd think once it'd been settled that was it.
I heard the residents on the new estate next to Swindon Speedway have started up a petition. You couldn't make it up!

we have had this all the time. in the 60's Coombe gave out free tickets to neighbours in surrounding villages, yet we could hear the F2 cars and Mike Hailwood racing bikes from Chippenham.
Thruxton sufferes with Sunday meetings having to stop at 9.30 am for church service.
Mallory has allways had problems, the Overends lived next to the track ( they owned) and new neighbours knocked on their door asking to sign petitions.
Farleigh Castle used to get complaints from the scientist on the bridge.
etc etc.
Coombe have partially brought it on themselves by selling part of Camp off for development years ago.
People pay for searches and solicitors to check , but they dont like to risk loosing a sale for being honest.
Barney Williams (GP) moved in opposite the gravel pits at Christian Malford, got them shut down because of dust. he then moved to Foxham under Lynehams flight path then lobbied to get the base closed. I expect he would be happy if he still lived there now.

The small engineering company in central Trowbridge where I have worked for the last 36 years have recently received noise complaints (anglegrinders, banging hammers..etc )from a new housing development close by.

We have been operating there as a welder/fabricating engineering company since 1946, my current boss's father started it after being demobbed from the war.

And any other sources of noise too.... If you move next to sommat noisy/smelly/lightpolluting and you didn't notice it first... well, its your own fault, not the fault of the people there to begin with! :-)

I wonder if the whinging would stop if the Castle Combe ciruit owners applied for planning permission to build hundreds of house there instead?

Signed

These people really get my back up, like Germaine Greer trying to get flying stopped from Duxford airfield as the warbirds flyover her house and are 'fast and dangerous' shame she wasn't around in the 40s the save 10s of thousands of our airmen, hey? damn those Spitfires are noisy compared to modern aircraft, really should be banned..
