Did anyone watch the Barry Sheene documentary on BBC2 tonight?
What the hell was that all about?
If you want to document the life of one of the biggest characters in bike racing, then do it.
If you want to show how brutal the rg500 was compared to a modern bike, then do that.
Don't try and splice to 2 together after you realised that both subjects have been covered extensively before, using a has been comedian who clearly doesn't know how to ride.
The whole show was building up to Vic Reeves riding Sheene's rg and he barely got out of 2nd.

VIC REEVES! Who's idea was that?

Clearly it was designed for Sunday evening general audience, not motorcycle enthusiasts

I thought it was ok, it was meant for non bikers and if that interests them in bikes it can't be a bad thing. I did feel disappointed at the end I hoped he was going to thrash the pants off that RG, infact the thought of him ragging it to death was what kept me watching so was an anti-climax. Was infinitely better than the staged top gear crap on before it though.

I thought Top Gear was great. I know it's all staged and they are trying the same gags over and over but I was watching it thinking Argentina looks like an amazing place to tour on a bike.

Top Gear are saying that the plate on the Porsche H982 FKL was just a coincident.

Yea right ;)

It's been like that for years.
I think it's had it's day.
Glad to see the Argies give them what for!
Let's not forget that over 200 British soldiers and 600 Argentinians were killed in the Falklands.

Funny how it was Clarkson's car that had the offending plate.
I think the locals showed true spirit. Just a shame we don't do the same and boycott this xenophobic crap.

I thought top gear was ok, bit samey but i did laugh when James fell off the horse, The Sheene docu quite interesting, didnt really go into depth on any topics , but it gave a bit of an insight to people who may not be too familiar. As for Vic reeves, bit of a strange choice, but it could have been worse.

not bad, a bit like Guy Martin programmes. as has been said, a general interest and if it gets more new or born again bikers on the road then fair enough.
as for Jim Moir , he used to watch them racing there, been there and can appreciate what it took. I would be aprehensive incase I dropped it.
as for the bikes, cant see Suzuki or the Sheen family letting Stavros or Jim Whitham take it for a spin, due to its value. its like Hondas Hailwood and earlier bikes.
they only fire them up once of twice a year, and then only til they are warm then shut them off and drain them. I doubt they have parts for the RG any more.

As has been said, quite interesting in parts and disappointing in parts.

As above some bits were interesting other bits less so. But then any programme focussed on bikes on free to view TV is a definite bonus!
