well after a 2 hour period sat at the side of the road i have now adopted the %%£^&& em all attitude.

I broke down bike in bits just out side chippenham christmas eve, I rekon about 200 vehicles passed me and not one even waved, they all looked not just cars. luckly I could fix and after doing a 300 meter dash pushing the bike to get out of danger I managed to strip the bike in a layby, or I think they would have just drove over me.

Does my head in that every bike I pass that has stopped I always signal and turn around and ask If they need help. It could be as simple as fuel or a fuse, Ive change tyres for people in the passed, why have all the nice people adopted the same attitude ????? (oh look someones broken down ??) and keep on going ??? made my blood boil..

if you passed me Id like to thank you for stopping I only needed a fuse or a piece of the chewing gum foil out of your ash tray , but hey you know who you are ???? one day it will be you or your kids ??

not to worry Ill stop ?? or will I ??

This is why this generation is going to be poorer than the previous generation, it's because it's all about me and sod anyone else, A little help go's a long way, and so does no help,
a sorry story indeed

It's the time of year I suspect. In the season of goodwill to all men people seem to get more impatient and rude !
Pleased you were able to fix it.
Cheers

Unless you look really scary I would have certainly stopped if I'd been going past.

Sorry to hear that. I always slow down and put my thumb up to see if they are ok when I think someone might need a hand

problem nowadays, is people wont stop because they dont know what to do! had I been in the van, I would have stopped and put the roof lights on.
getting back to the problem,I assume you dont carry spare fuses?

I'd like to say that ignorant people are a minority but it's not true.
Most people are c*#+s.
I stopped for a girl who'd broken down in a flood on a blind bend.
I jumped out, pushed her around the corner, ruining my new shoes in the process.
Her response? "Well I can't f'ing leave it here!"

I stopped for an elderly lady again broken down in the rain, going in the opposite direction and causing a huge tailback.
I ran past 15 cars, many with men younger and bigger than me to push her car.
She was nearly in tears as she tried to push it herself and the people behind sat there beeping.

Even though nobody else does and even though some don't appreciate it, I'll never stop helping people who need it.
It's how I'm made.

I am at a loss to explain why it is this happens so much these days. I have seen accidents where people will just drive through the carnage and completely ignore it. I even know of a biker who was led in the road in obvious agony and i guy pulled up next to him, rolled down the window and shouted at him to "get that pile of **** out of my way"!
Sadly people have very little compassion anymore. Sad sign of the times.

I will always stop for a bike on the side of the road, however every single time I have, the biker has given me a WTF look and declined help. Very rarely stop for a car unless there's something obvious I can do, i.e. help change a spare wheel.

I always stop or put a hand up to see if they need help, even gone back round a dual carriageway after i saw a lad on l plates broken down, he had someone coming out to him, but did say thanks for stopping. Attended a RTA on the m4 as ive always got a first aid kit on the bike, and had to do a bit before the ambulance arrived, nothing serious, but its always a comfort knowing theres someone about to help.

I definitely think people on the whole are less likely to stop these days but I am surprised if bikes went past without stopping if you looked like you needed help. The shame is that there are probably people on here or elsewhere that would have been very happy to come out and help if only they knew. Perhaps some clever person could put together a "Bikers Rescue" app that notifies members when you need help. Glad you fixed it.

thanks guys for your points of view it is refreshing knowing that there is people that will help. In hin-sight ?? (spelling, lol) now there is a few days between me and the event I think that I should of not posted as the feelings where still a little .......raw.
do I look scary ...... well when I look in the mirror ....I dont jump ??? to other people maybe
did I look like I needed help ??? probably not ..... bike in bits head down but no SOS signals coming from my phone or writen on the floor with the bits of bike...
Do i carry fuses..... now this is a sour taste ....yes.....normally in my bag (the one at home) on the bike seat taped to the under side...the one I have just changed ??lol.
lesson learned about myself. DONT CHANGE A HABBIT OF A LIFE TIME,,,,
I will still stop and help people much like the most of us and if it happens again .....?????? Ill wear warmer clothes lol

Cheers guys happy new year

I just think that I can't change other peoples attitudes only my own. So I don't ever expect people to help me when I need it. Although I still think peoples attitudes stink a lot of the time. I would definitely of helped you if you needed it. I always would go out of my way to help if somebody needs it. But I never expect it back. But I think their is a difference in general bike riders and car drivers.

My neighbour (also bikers) stopped for someone between Westbury and Warminster who ran out of fuel, they were most embarrassed and were given a lift to the nearest fuel station - only another mile!
I saw someone the other day stopped but they seemed okay and I had to be somewhere, normally I would stop, especially if they looked in distress (pi$$ed off) or had the bike in bits.

I would be happy to add my number to a list of contacts who would happily rescue a fellow biker - take them tools, fuel or even rescue the bike if my neighbours van was available. Did this with a 4x4 group in the past in case anyone got stuck in the mud.

This generation? I find old people the most ignorant personally, everytime i've been stuck at the side of the road someone in the 20s/30s usually stops to see if your ok. Unless im on the bike, then no one bothers to stop...

I pushed a bike from the 303 slip road at Thruxton track back to Tidworth a while ago....... nobody bothered to stop and ask till I was on the edge of Tidworth when somebody offered me some water because I looked a mess (hot day). Don't think that's a generational thing.

My old bike broke down on me on the way home from work in Bath; and it was -5 and 2300 at night. The AA was on route but was going to take 3 hours to get to me (i need the trailer). 4 people stopped in about 15minutes and asked if I was ok and there person in the house behind came out and gave me a cuppa, they then came out 20mins later and asked if I wanted to some food and they made me the most delicious thai curry, I got to watch a top gear DVD as well. Good will is not dead quite yet!

the guys here are correct most people are c**ts... How I found this forum? We'll one bright sunny day I was out on my RSV not too far from home when the thing just died - so I started pushing it home. A car stopped and offered help. Fab, can you drop my helmet, gloves back to my house etc. You can imagine the look of terror on my girlfriends face when a stranger (Hunar) walked up the path carrying my gear. The rest is History. Empathy level within the human race is at a minimum right now, don't expect anything from anyone. There are some good people out there mostly on this forum...

Did my 'boy scout' bit for the year this morning.
Lad pushing a scooter up from Hick's Gate towards Brislington. I stopped. His throttle cable had snapped.
I produce a screwdriver and he upped the idle speed. Got him home.
