So most forums (this one included) don't let you advertise old helmets for sale, which is very sensible because you don't know if they've been dropped or treated properly.

But..what do you do with old helmets? I have 2 I want rid of to make room for baby stuff - one has only been worn a handful of times so seems a shame to just stick it in the wheelie bin.

Is there anywhere you can recycle them or donate them for something?

What size are they, etc.

You can do one of two things :

Donate them to local fire station to practice with
or
There is a company in Salisbury called MPH that sells second hand biker goods. Just started up but they look good. I can give you their details if you want

The fire station sounds like a good plan, would be happy to have them used for something useful! They're quite small sizes I think, they're at the back of a cupboard in boxes at the mo so will dig them out over Christmas

Friends or family? I for one wouldn't have a problem with a helmet if the person was trust worthy enough to say it hadn't been dropped. What are they? My helmet is knackered, think I'm a 'small'.

Not sure if Firemen want them anymore, I had one a few months ago I couldn't give away, local fire station said no too. Ended up just binning it.

One's an AGV which is probably past it's sell by date - it's at least 10 years old and has seen a lot of use. The other is a Takatchi flip-front in grey which, other than a tiny scratch on the top where I scraped it on the garage wall, has only been worn about 5 times max. I'll dig it out at the weekend if you like Dan.

The AGV is probably fit for the bin to be fair..it had a hard life :)

Take the linings out and use them for hanging baskets

Dabz. How small is it? Again wouldn't buy from a person I didn't trust to look after them but could do with one to take Oliver out in the summer as his is now too small. I bought his new to take him in the sidecar but again only used a handful of times with a few marks were he used to fall asleep.
I will also be chucking another out as Santa brought me a new Caberg. Bless him

Kev, I won't sell it to you - if it fits it's yours or rather Oliver's! PM me your address and I'll drop it round :)

Judy. Thank you very much. I think a visit over to Fowlers to kit him out will be in order (jacket, trousers, gloves, boots, etc..)

In true biker fashion he was sat with Grandad Wednesday reading MCN.
All he want's now is for us to rebuild his mini moto which will be interesting as it hasn't run for about 6 years!
