Hey there.

I'm Danny. A 25 yr old Harley Rider. I'm looking to join a local club of some sort.

Does anyone have a contacts or ideas?? Iv looked all over the net but can't find anything. I live near Bath so am looking somewhere in the area. Don't mind travelling a bit though. More excuse to ride! Cheers Danny :)

Hi and welcome. My parents live near radstock and I grew up there. My dad has a Harley and him and his mates do a few rides in the summer months. I'll be spending most of my spring/summer near there as well

Hey Danny.
I was at Riders in Brislington, Bristol on Saturday.
They had a big sign over the door with "south west chapter"
A bit later bikers turned up with the same written on their waistcoats so I guess it's some kind of club.
By the looks of it the only prerequisite is you must own a Harley, have a beard, weigh at least 18 stone and be over 50.
Hope this helps.

I think that might be the owners club. Iv messaged the ones based in Bridgwater so it might be the same ones. I don't mind riders but since I bought a bike elsewhere they are a cold with me! Haha. But thanks for the reply il see what happens with the HOG in Bridgewater. I don't think there's one in bristol.

I don't mind riders but since I bought a bike elsewhere they are a cold with me!.
Is that true?
One of the salesmen got ****ty with me after I bought my ZX somewhere else because he only offered £800 trade in for my GSXR.
He even blanked one of my mates for a year because he saw him with me.
I think because they sell premium brand bikes they get a little above their station.

Yeh, when I was looking at buying they were really helpful. Couldn't do enough for me. Then since I got it elsewhere they don't even say hello when I walk in haha
The parts guys still talk to me, but sales guys hate me!

I would have bought from there if everything wasn't a Rediculous price. They offered you 800.... would have put it up for sale for 10k haha.

That's a shame. I've got the beard, definitely over 18 stone and over 50. No Harley though, but love big v-twins. Not into tassels or chaps (not the male or cover your trouser leg kind)

Welcome to Wiltshire Bikers though. Nice friendly bunch on here

Hi Danny and welcome

I don't do many ride outs (partly as I'm quite a way from the start/end points of most WB ones and partly as I'm not really a ride out person) but do get out all year round and happy to catch up for a bimble or a blast as and when convenient for both of us.

I'm off to France for a few days soon so not around for next two weekends but feel free to PM me at any time as long as a refusal doesn't offend ; )

Some of the Bristol-based rides go through Shepton or Frome. All winding down now bar a few hardy souls.
Santa ride coming up on 6/12 and a biggish one further south on the 14/12.

Hi Danny, Welcome to the group. I live in Peasedown just south of you. I try to make as many of the group rideouts as I can. I would be happy to accompany you on some routes round here. Only thing is I am on a sports tourer so you may have to wait for me to catchup sometimes :-) when do you ride?

I didn't think it was legal for anyone to own one under the age of 40

Ah Yeh that's just up the road. I work in hair razor that barber shop in radstock... don't know if you've ever been in there? I ride whenever I can! Would love to be included in one of your ride outs. Would be sweet. My days off are Wednesday and Sunday... so that's when I do most my riding :)

HD do make a few good looking bikes. I don't have one and to be honest I wouldn't have one mainly because harley riders seem to be up their arse
Glad to say you seem totally different to a typical harley rider which is a very good way to be. :D

Haha I don't get why harley riders are like that. Harleys are slow, crap at braking, scrape on every corner and partial to a bit of rust. Not exactly something to be up your own ass about. But I do love them :)

I'm just guessing here but have you had a bad experience with a Harley owner, I'm getting that vibe? :D

Danny just goes to show that using the type of bike they ride to judge a person is not perhaps the greatest idea, I hope it doesn't catch on 'cos I sometimes ride a Yamaha V50 step thru ; )

I lust over a heritage softail classic. Not a fan of sportsters much they are a bit squashed looking and I'm with Swanny about the average owner, though I'm sure Danny will prove me wrong on that one.

Haha there's a lot of pressure for me not to be a cock! Il do my best haha. I know what you mean about being squashed up but I didn't get on with how some of the bigger bikes felt. It put me off being able to see too much of the front wheel. If I see you lot on a meet at some point you'll have to have a sit on it to see what I mean!

I was chatting to a Harley rider once who said it's not just that most riders are pricks but there is even prickery between different types and ages of Harleys

Ah well done mate congratulations! What did you get? That's the trouble with them, I went out Sunday and it got covered had to come home and clean it all up. Haha.

I would have joined hog but begrudged paying the membership fee. Mr Davidson has had enough money from me haha.

I have a 2010 V Rod muscle coming tomorrow my last bike was a 2013 speed triple, after a knee op and a few close calls decided I needed a more comfortable calmer !! Ride lol
Did take out a dyna wide glide but decided I needed to keep what teeth I had left, just too much vibration for me ;)

Patience young Padawan :) the good thing is they still make them, so they'll be around when you want to get one is your sportster the 833 or 1200 ?
The Rods def seem to hold their price, I have never owned a HD and heard stories of them not being reliable but I'm guessing your happy with yours ? I bought from a Harley dealer so at least have 12 months warranty and yes I'm hoping to get some joy out of it :) and some nice sounding ;) upgrades don't they say LOUDER !is safer !

883 :( not even the big one :(
The first upgrade I made was a new slip on exhaust. Sound's lovely now :) lost a bit of power though which is annoying.
But Yeh never had any trouble. Well in the 2 months iv had it ;) but Harley do seem to charge a Rediculous price for absolutely everything. So check the net before going through the dealership!

Yeah I had a sissybar n rack fitted to keep the other half happy at a cost of over £400 !

Don't know about the sportsters but with the V rods you can change the silencers and exhausts but if you change the air filters you have to get them tuned also if the replacement exhausts have little if no back pressure then there is a loss of power

Maybe you just need to get a sports filter and a tune believe HD call it a stage 1 tune (exhaust/filter/tune)

Seems to be the choice for most of the air cooled Harley's

Hope it's dry tomorrow so at least I can take it up the road :)

Yeh that's right. Stage one its called. For harley to do it it costs 1100 haha. It's not a fast bike anyway so can't warrant paying 150 for a filter.

It's looking alright this end weather wise. Just cloudy.gooing to get put for few hours. Hope it goes alright bud :)
