Hi Guys,

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good training school local to Tidworth for my mum to do her DAS? Personally I am doing my training in Maidenhead to fit around work (my mod 1 is already booked - so excited!)

Any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Phoenix in Amesbury. Did my CBT with them and my DAS. DAS is on ER6N and they have a lowered one if your Mum is of the shorter persuasion. I think it's around £625 for MOD 1 and 2 they break it down like this

Big bike conversion - half hour on the yard to prove you can ride. Then half a day out on the roads to get used to the big bike. Not much radio nagging in the ear on this one basically a nice ride out with instruction, stop at a café for coffee then ride back.

MOD 1 training - Half a day doing the cones over and over and over and over and.......... by the end you will know the MOD 1 blindfold

MOD 1 test - Stupid O clock in the morning start to ride to Newbury test centre. Pass mod 1 and ride back.

MOD 2 training - Early start, ride to Salisbury. Spend the day covering all the roads around Salisbury that test uses. Various bacon butty and coffee breaks.

MOD 2 - Ride to Salisbury, quick recap on some of the roads, bacon butty then sit in the test centre waiting your turn. Pass test and ride back grinning like Hugh Hefner on the day they invented Viagra.

I can't comment on the instruction of others but I did phone and email a few when I was shopping around for my DAS

Andover Rider Training - Was over £100 more than Phoenix. I remember a particularly long winded guy on the phone who rambled on about what huge mileages would be clocked up each day. Also didn't let you book mod 1 and 2 separately so if you failed Mod 1 you basically lost your £££ on the Mod 2 stuff.

Thruxton Race track (can't remember school name) - Never answered the phone. They finally responded to an email 3 months after I sent it...... clowns.

Able Motorcycle Training - Answered Emails fast. Was similar price to Phoenix. Other end of Wiltshire though and I couldn't be bothered travelling there daily

Salisbury Bike Training - Didn't answer the phone or respond to emails, must have so much business they don't need anymore!

I done mine with Phoenix in amesbury. Was given tony (runs Phoenix) as an instructor and he doesn't take fools lightly. However if your willing to learn then he is good.
