Someone else will fill the void ...
Looked like a good operation - I follow a few of the PCs and Sargents on twitter and they were posting some impressive stats and photos (after, not during)
Well impressed they just need to keep it up with regular hits on the dealers. None of us with children/grandchildren want this stuff on our streets.

But that's more down to the lack of justice, rather than policing. Here in Bristol, it causes real disruption when A&S do one of these ops. Make the dealers lives a misery - that's what they do to people and communities.

Superintendent Gavin Williams is an old customer of mine.
He used to have a 'drugs torch' when he was a sgt.
He'd tell a stopped suspect that if he shone it at them and the red light came on he'd know they were carrying.
More often than not they'd admit it and take the fixed penalty. 😄
Why haven't plod been keeping these dealers under the cosh on a daily/weekly basis...they know who they are.'''or should do.
This is shocking that plod has allowed, thru inactivity, the numbers involved in 'the drugs trade' !!!!..wtf!!! to escalate to involve 70 properties and which must equate to over 100 dealer/users and then arrest 45 !!!!...wonder how many will be released without further action ?
Questions need to be asked as to why this is the case and what has plod been upto over the years to attempt to prevent the escalation of the 'drug trade' ?
Better late than never I guess
Have a nice day :)

Col
Most of the dealers are very streetwise and know the law extremely well. It is very rare to stop a dealer in the street and find them carrying a large stash of heroin or cocaine. The amounts they carry would amount to personal use and therefore the punishments they get mediocre and not a deterrent. Therefore the 'long game' has to be played. I can't go into detail about the tactics, however suffice to say its about gathering enough evidence to prove supply or possession with intent to supply. This has the knock on effect of also allowing the police to seize their 'assests' (ill gotten gains) under the proceeds of crime act. Obviously at the time the evidence gathering part of the operation is going on, everything is kept hush hush.
About 6 years ago when I worked in Southampton a large drugs operation was carried out. It was 18-20 months of evidence gathering, and then planning. Over 50 dealers were convicted, and sentenced to various terms of imprisonment and large sums of money and assets being confiscated. For a long period of time it looked to the locals that the police were doing nothing, when in fact there was a lot going on in the background.
Thank You DaytonaDog.
Seems quite obvious the 'law' needs some tweaking to enable easier prosecution and allow huge penalties to be imposed on those who have any amounts even those with amounts now deemed for 'personal use'[wtf!!!] ........... too much pussy footing around leaves too many loopholes exposed to be taken advantage of by the real money makers/dealers/importers........possibly ????
Why are these criminals are allowed to 'ply their trade' for months/years without too much hindrance from the State and they then have time to conceal assets, methods of supply, etc.
Read somewhere that it is generally believed that the 'battle' against drugs is lost anyway.....
......sell the crap at Boots or your local supermarket....
.......druggies terminate themselves...
....the State save a fortune in prevention/ prosecution costs and eventually the 'drug trade' would fold as 'joe turkey' witnesses mass death and they wake up to the fact that drugs use is not such a good idea for a healthy, long lived life so that eventually nobody actually buys the stuff.
p.s. no free NHS care is to be made available either............this will further dissuade 'users'
Harsh??? some may argue..............possibly....but very effective eventually :)
a result !!!! indeed :D
Oh No!!!! I can hear the bleeding heart liberals 'let them be' brigade already poised to plead the druggies and suppliers rights ;)

DaytonaDog - thanks for that post. As always, great to hear the steps being taken by the police and how the law must work

Well done, Killer Rat, the police and legal system will do next to nothing if anything and you've publicly announced that you're a grass.
A class of people not regarded much different from drug dealers as neither can be trusted.

then i'm a grass as well because I have reported drunk drivers and would happily report other criminals. Why the feck should we play mostly by the rules and sit back while others put us in danger or blatantly take the piss. Would you be happy if in a few years time mr black dog is pushing harder drugs on your daughter?

i've grassed up piss head drivers too, amongst a few other things.
maybe we should all think like 81-Nomad, if we ignore the drink drivers and other scumbags the roads will be safer for people like him...oh hang on.....

A guy growing a few plants though is probably doing so for himself and actually taking his business away from a dealer. Saying a couple of plants means in a few years time he'll be selling crack to kids is pretty laughable. Do you ever speed? If so someone better follow you round filming it and handing that footage to the old bill because clearly if you speed now in a few years time you will be intentionally ploughing down kids while doing 80 in a 30 zone........ that sounds dumb? Just applying the same logic.
I agree grassing that guy up was pretty low, if you have a problem with somebody have the balls to say it to their face. If you can't then hold your manhood cheap.
I don't smoke personally but I think the Cannabis plant should be legalized. It's an amazing plant and has many heath benefits and uses. In fact it's the most useful plant on the planet. If there was such a thing as a god then this plant would be its gift to mankind. I know people that use it for fun and for health matters and I certainly don't consider them to be criminals.

Is it?
All the people I know that smoke don't grow their own, I would say he was a good candidate to start selling if he has already taken the next step of growing. Of course all drug dealers never started with soft drugs....
In balance I think it's fair to say that most people that smoke don't automatically progress to harder drugs either.
Speeding, light drugs and the like are fairly tolerable though, I still think it's acceptable to inform on more serious criminals, we all hate to hear of someones bike being nicked or vulnerable people assaulted etc.

I won't disagree those are ****ty crimes, though I still don't support going to the police, if for no better reason than the joke sentence a bike thief will get compared to what you yourself can go do to said thief.
Maybe that seems extreme but I have no faith in our justice system, I've been on the receiving end of it both rightfully and wrongfully, including spending 7 months staring at a cell door from a conviction that rested on the word of a liar.
To me (and this is just my view) killerrats actions were born out of sheer spite, he didn't like the guy, there seems no implication in his post the guy was pushing the weed. So out of malice he ratted on him. I mean come on if you don't like someone because they are full of **** sort it round the back of the pub after work don't possibly destroy their life with a spiteful reaction over a couple of plants.

I wouldn't have grassed the little turd if he didn't show me dodgy pictures of young girls on his phone.
Cannabis users i don't really mind as most of my friends toke, it's the other stuff this lad gets up to which is too long to list.
