Too lazy/busy/old/fat/much of a fashion victim for a push-bike?

Great idea.

An excellent way to get the next generation not only interested in biking but it will also give them the skills and knowledge you need to maintain a bike.

I fail to see how owning one would make you any of the above.

I like the idea but it does look a bit naff (though that's just personal opinion).

A great idea but don't thing the kids are going to like them at the price they want. I see loads of Chinese peds and bikes about that retail for about the same money.

Looks like really good fun, and if the price was decent I would probably buy one (though I suspect the price for one of these would be rather a lot). I like the fact that you have to put it all together yourself, reminds me of my old Meccano toys from when I was younger.

That looks great fun. Far better than the electric bike things.

How how to tune the pit bike engine.....

Things like this are great ideas but I have 2 concerns

1. A lot of kids are fat n lazy, there are lots of efforts trying to get them into more sports and how many kids do you see playing outside these days? I used to live outside during daylight or before 7/8pm, we used to cycle for miles which was a great way to keep fit.

2. When used by idiots outside your house at 10pm trying to run over your cat or speed through alleyways to avoid the coppers that don't seem to patrole anywhere anymore and only turn up 3 hours later when you call them... Not a dig at coppers, just my experience.

It seems it's already available for £130 using an 80cc 2 smoke engine http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Motorised-Bicycle-Cycle-Petrol-Gas-Engine-Motor-Kit-80cc-2-Stroke-Pedal-Start-/191024991099?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item2c79fa0b7b&clk_rvr_id=573788915731

Yeah and it snowed every Christmas, you could leave your back door open and half a crown would get you a cinema ticket, a bag of chips and the bus fare home........

I like it. It has just the right modifications needed to encourage me to get into mountain biking...

Seriously though - if it were allowed on bridleways I might consider it - but that's never going to happen - so no advantage over having a push bike & a scrambler...

They wouldn't be legal in the UK without road tax, insurance, helmet and a licence. I suspect anyone who has a licence anyway is not going to buy one of those over a normal bike!

Cliches maybe but the bit that I posted was what I did with my childhood, I now have to drag my son away from his computer at the weekends and I can see daily plenty more fat kids around - I stand by what I said as it's from experience and observation.

I repeat " Yep all cliches but it doesn't stop them being true. " You'll find if you read back through the posts I was actually agreeing with you !!!
