M25 Ring of Red Ride

Out of interest does any one who organises large group rides know how the organisers stand re insurance/Police permission etc., on something like the M25 Ring of Red on the M25 on Sunday?

I just hate to imagine an incident on the M25 involving a group of bikers involved in this.

I assume the organisers need to notify the Police too?

Every rider is responsible for his/her own riding actions on the day of the ride, just the same as any othe day of the year, it is simply a meeting of many bikers on a day out, my understanding is that Tolls on M25 bridges have been waived, even though bikes are free, two lanes are being left open so that it dosn't hold up the bike flow.
I'll be riding it and am looking forward to the day, if anyone from Swindon is interested there is a pre-ride meet at the Costa coffee bar at Lidiard Fields, Junction 16 of the M4, meet at 10am and depart for Reading services for 2 min silence at 11am and then on to the M25.

Have done most of the RoR events and photographed them.

Saw this when it was first advertised. Well done to those who actually want to do it.

That's my view too - great idea and of course I support the sentiment, but I can think of far better ways of spending a Sunday than riding along a motorway, especially the M25!

Although I referred to the Ring of Red Ride it was really just that, that got me thinking about liability and group rides. I couldnt really see that telling everyone they are responsible for themselves etc would be enough to cover the organisers. The Ring of Red isn't for me I personally have no desire to ride round the M25 as a mark of respect but I do hope everyone who goes enjoys it, has a safe ride and that they raise lots of money for the British Legion. I'm sure its very difficult trying to arrange something new for rides like this to attract a lot of support.
