Does anyone have the knowledge and experience in recovering data off of corrupt discs. One is a SATA computer Hard Drive and the other is from a laptop.

I would take them into a shop but I would rather give the money to someone that deserves it more plus I might have a few things on them that I shouldnt have. Not porn.

I might be able to help you. Obviously depends how corrupted the disks are. Do you know the reason they failed?

The latest was a few weeks ago on the laptop. The laptop froze so we closed it after waiting for ages. Came back later and we had a black screen that said....

A disk read error occurred, press ctrl+alt+del to restart.

I tried everything I could find online but nothing seemed to work.

The SATA drive got corrupted at least 4 years ago but it has all the baby photos on of our first born and obviously my wife is devastated not to have them. I vaguely recall this having the infamous 'blue screen of death'.

Forgot to mention, the laptop drive has files and links saved on it that my wife is using for her university studies.

If it wasnt for these things I wouldnt bother and just chuck them away but we cant this unfortunately.

Oh wow, yeah, I can see why you don't want to lose all that! I would imagine the laptop suffered from the heat, I had one go recently for that reason.
I'm based in Cheltenham, and on holiday this week with time to kill so if you can get them to me I should know pretty quickly if anything can be recovered...
Let me know what you want to do...

Its a bit far for me to go at the moment as my wife is due to give birth any day. Do you ever come down Salisbury way. I dont want you to travel to do me a favour, I should do that, just asking in case you do come any closer. What kind of price are we looking at as well? I really appreciate your help.

I'm in Tidworth and maybe able to help depending on the state of the disks and if both use SATA connectors (I don't have the adaptors or motherboards for IDE/PATA anymore). Shoot me a PM or something with details on the disks, I'm off to bed now but will respond to it tomorrow morning.

Congratulations and good luck! Tbh, I'm never in the Salisbury area, happy for you to ship them.
I'd do it for free, its not likely to be particularly onerous. You might be better taking up wr6133 on his offer if he's nearer.
Let me know if you need help and ill pm my details...

That's great. Let me know when you're free and if I am I will drop them off for you.

Sorry to hear about the funeral, I hope it goes as well as expected.
