Anyone recommend a good cleaner for wheels with brake dust & chain lube stuck to them?

WD40 on a cloth just watch the tyres unless you like drifting.

Depends how old and how thick. I use Meguiars polish on my wheels which I find stops too much dust and lube sticking to them so a quick wipe with a damp cloth after a ride is all I need to keep them looking good. But if they are really messy I use WD40 or GT85, and as others have said on a cloth so you dont get any on the tyres/brakes. I also always try to lube the chain when its warm too (ie after a ride) and let it stand which reduces the amount flung off on the wheel.

I used holts motorcycle degreaser last time, worked well http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_22 1483_langId_-1_categoryId_266853 £3 at halfords

Use ordinary household polish, cheap as chips and theres a chemical in it that will lift the crap off without any elbow grease required!

Clean them with wd40 on a rag then polish the wheels up with normal automotive polish, the next time you wash them it'll just wipe off

After reading this thread I did my filthy caked wheels with wd40 today and they came up good as new with very little effort, great tip, thanks!

I've always used wd40 on my wheels but I've never tried the Mr Sheen on them. May have to give that a try when im low on wd40.

Paraffin works a treat - as I found out Today!
Soaked my chain and sprockets (and then brushed them) in it and I also cleaned off all the crud on the wheels too!
4 litres (£6 ish from B&Q)
I have tried everything believe me, and paraffin is the best by far!

Rabb, I haven't tried using paraffin to clean them yet.

I have used methalyted spirits though, I use about 50/50 water mix and it does the trick on both bikes.

Thanks Dan - not tried meths but I will to see if it's better than paraffin.
