MAKING POSTS
It seems the biggest problem with the forums for most people is making posts.
There are three modes for use when making posts.
Basic - No editing controls.
Standard - Editing controls but displays them as code in the message box.
Advanced (WYSIWYG - What You See Is What You Get) Editor. This mode is a practically a full blown word processor, if you make something bold it shows it bold etc.
When we transferred from the old forums a number of things which didn't exist on the old software was set to basics on the new software. When a new person registers now on the new software their default settings is "Standard" mode. Sadly one of the things which was not set by the transfer was the editor mode.
To change the setting click here (http://www.wiltshirebikers.co.uk/profile.php?do=editoptions) and Scroll down to Miscellaneous Options then select the one you want. As a rough guide if you know nothing about code then select the WYSIWYG Editor, if you know a bit about coding then select Standard, and if you dont want to use smilies....... (who doesn't!) then leave it as basic.

Quick Reply Vs Advanced reply
To reply you have a few options. You can click on the http://www.wiltshirebikers.co.uk/images/element/buttons_blue/reply.gif button (bottom left) and add a new post to the end of the thread. Alternatively, you can leave a quick reply in a quick editor box listed below the posts in the thread right at the bottom.
When using 'Quick Reply' you can choose to quote a particular post if you are replying to something someone wrote. You may need to click the quick reply button Reply to this Message Reply in a post to activate the quick reply box before you can type into it. This will open a new box directly below the post you clicked reply to.
If you want to post replies to multiple posts you can select them by clicking the multi quote button Multi quote. This button will change to indicate that you've selected it. Clicking post reply will then bring you to the full editor with all the posts quoted
Saving of Sent PM's (Private Messages)
Another thing which was not carried over correctly when we switched was the automatic saving of Sent PM's.
To do this CLICK ME (http://www.wiltshirebikers.co.uk/profile.php?do=editoptions) and scroll down to "Messaging & Notification" then change the setting "Sent Private Messages:" to Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default
And the all important question "when do we get more smilies?!" we will be adding some soon so watch this space.
To help I am setting up a new forum for you all to play about with the new forums. It will not count toward anything on the forum and is just to contain test/practice posts in one place. You will notice it on the main forums under "Site Feedback"
