Hiya, :)

Decided to join having just 'surfaced' from 'Project Blackbird' - re -building a black 2000 model CBR 1100XX Super Blackbird. Now its ready for the road!

Don't know if its traditional or not, but as I love anything on 2 wheels, I thought I'd include a list of bikes owned so far ..(roughly in chronological order):

FS1E [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
RD125
CB250RS
GS550E
GS550EX
Moto Guzzi California Vintage
CBF1000
FJR1300 [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Honda Goldwing GL1800 [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
CBR1100XX SuperBlackbird [smiley=thumbsup.gif] [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I enjoy touring (Ireland and west country mostly), as well as keping the skills up with a spot of training (completed IAM last year). I like cold weather and so tend to ride more in the winter than the summer. I like a bike to be very fast, comfortable and with loads of gadgets.

Other likes are: Beer, beer, food, more food and er more food. Oh, and empty roads. [smiley=beer.gif]

Dislikes: Speed cameras, doddery drivers with flat caps, anything that's badly designed, going to the cupboard for a pickled egg and finding the jar's empty (a tragedy of epic proportions). [smiley=rolleyes.gif]

Seems like a good forum. Looking forward to making some posts.

Big Poss 8-)

Hoggin the Bridge is a charity event on Sun 17th Oct runs every year and it is a mass gathering of bikes at Aust services that cross the old severn bridge. Ride leaves Oust at 11am does a 30 mile loop into Wales and finishes at Chepstow there will easily be 4/5000 bikes. suggest you google hogginthebridge .com.

Pickled Eggs..wrong???!!

Just came back from boot fair on Sunday - THREE JARS of the lovely beauties for £1.50.

Now all I needs is a VERY large portion of chips, A pint of 6X and a quiet place...

next best thing to riding the Blackbird...

(OK, I think the eggs is a bloke thing).

Thanks everyone for the welcome. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

Looks like I missed the outing over the bridge.. :'(

Never mind, I'm sure there will be other events...

Ah, the FS1E....

Now that was a beastie.... NOU 35L - 1973 vintage - a tasty little number in snot yellow... it had most of the cooling fins broken off, with the result that when I bought it, the only way to stop the exhaust pipe from expanding and falling off was to pee on the engine every 3 miles.... I paid £80 for the privilege

Once sorted it was good for...oooh.... 44mph.

leather biker jacket, jeans, boots and cut off denim waistcoat with badges... it all comes back..

Best trick was to wedge a screwdriver in the throttle and then climb up onto the tank at max speed on a straight road. Although I did once ride it in my pyjamas and slippers across the new forest from Brockenhurst to Lymington at 1 am.... It seemed to make sense at the time.

I saw one the other day (George Whites) and I was amazed at how small it was (just like penny chews, Fizzies get smaller as you get older it seems).

My introduction to biking..... how I survived I'll never know...
:-?
