View Full Version : Misty Visor
Right who has worked out how to wear a helmet and a face mask / muff (oh err I said muff) in the cold weather without misting up so that you either can not see where you are going , or having to open your visor and freeze your eyes open?? :o

Pinlock system, got it on my shoei and it works a treat.
Yeah I have a Shoei but with a face mask on it still mists up.

There's an OLD trick of wiping the inside of your visor with a thin layer of washing up liquid!! It works by not giving the condensation anything to adhere to and there for it cant fog up the visor!! 8-)
Cheers Anmante I will try this and see how it goes.
just watch out for those bubbles when it rains especially if it is fairy ;D ;D ;D
on a serious note though i have also heard that this works
Pinlock is good and used by a lot of guys on track. If you have a sports bike get the racing version which give better top of visor visibility.
You can also pick up cans of demisting spray from most motorcycle shops.
I got some from GM stevens in Trowbridge. Also use rainx on the outside of the visor.
Just in case you dont like the smell of washing up liquid
Cheers

Thanx guys, I might see if I can pop down to GW's this lunch time and see if they have any of the above to help things out, as I wasnt even wearing a face mask thismorning and I still had to have the visor open.
I have shoei pinlock and a Respro Foggy - works a treat. Just google for respro foggy - they're about 15 quid direct from respro.
here's a link for you

They work well, but I didn't get on with it believe it or not cos I felt enclosed with it on....even now I ride most the time with my visor open lol

There is a good review of various methods of curing misting visors in Ride this month.

This months RIDE did a test of products to stop visor misting, Pinlock gave the best results and was recommended but the best buy was a product called Fog Tech which comes as wipes or in a bottle. They don't mention "cat crap" lol (got it off ebay) they did try washing up liquid but they found it to be ineffective. The RESPRO Foggy scored well and only lost points for ease of use.
i'll be making sure my next lid has pinlock pins I think! the fogcity i have in both my helmets is ok, but not perfect. my main issue is having to wear glasses for riding..they steam up before the visor!
I got Pinlocks but I know what you mean Dabz, I'm going to give Fog Tech a go on my specs :)
