i run ANYTHING on the gsxr, never can tell if theyre "Good" or not....i run mixed pairs, even run sports on the front and touring on the back....no probs at all...
some feel "nice" and some feel stable, but thats about as far as my analysis goes....

there are some pretty good deals about if you search around a bit....

If you like the Bridgestones stick to them!! Use 020's (or is it 021's now??) for extra life.

As JD says, tyres are all as good as each other now. The rest is personal preferance.

I'm using Maxxis Super Sport Tourer and they seem to be fantastic and are very cheap as well. I paid £100 for the pair.
I have only done 200 miles on them so far but they do seem to be better than my old Bridgestone tyres [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

BT021's are awful, weird front wear and squared off rears in 3k. Got some Dunlop 207's on at the moment, and as well as being cheap as chips, they seem fine :)

I used BT021s on my CBR600, got nearly 6k out of the rear so not sure what you were doing with your bike.

I would recommend the BT21s too, they are duel compound and they seemed to work really well for my style of riding and Kev I know you know how I ride so if they were fine for me then you will be fine with them.

I am quite a careful wet weather rider anyway so cant comment really on how they performed in that respect but when I did go out in the wet they didn't bother me.

I got a flat rear at Brighton - What a trip home - know all the service stations with air now!!!

Unrepairable so new boots today as front was wearing low too - Stuck to pilots cos it feels so good, positive, grippy tho a bit expensive - Cant' recommend them highly enuff

A lot of motorway, especially in winter. The front wear pattern is well documented on the web, as in the front wears quicker than the rear and unevenly. A quick Google will throw up enough info to put anyone right off them.

I had 020s on my old bike, tried 021s, didn't like them. 014 didn't last long enough for me

I'd put Pirelli Diablo Strada on a mate's bike previously and loved them, just put some on my Speed Triple and love them on this bike too. Absolute confidence on damp and wet welsh roads all of last week 8-)

Big deep tread so they last a good while too

personally i find bridgestones pants in the wet, especially in the center of the tyre in the harder compound area. pretty good in the dry once they have warmed up. not my top choice.

I put a pair of Avon Storm 2 Ultra tyres on my CB1000R last week.
Really pleased with them and really good and deep tread pattern for the wet.
Got them supplied and fitted by Steve Lynham for £220.
He also has offer on pairs of Metzelers (180/55 rear) for less than £200.

I had 207s on my gsxr and HATED them. They felt really skitish through corners, didn't turn in well and deffinately didn't inspire confidence.

I wonder how much of it is psycological when it come to tyres. At the end of the day if it works for you then that's all that matters.

How come you're using such old rubber? I didn't know they still made D207s

It's the D207e, i'm sure they're NOS now, but they use the latest Roadsmart compounds apparently, and are a lot better than the older D207. Main reason is i can get a pair fitted for £150, and when you have a 160 mile round trip to work, i need cheap rubber. Personally i find them way better than 021's, i used the 020's for years which were pretty ok, but the 021 wear pattern was unusal and too fast for me, and another £100 fitted.
