Whats the easiest way to remove rust from the bike?

I have bits of rust on my brake discs and more on my exhaust.

Is there a home solution for removing the rust or is there a product better suited for it?

Many thanks :)

Autosol will, with a fair amount of elbow grease get the rust off but being a polish be very carefull about using it near discs ;)

You could also pinch some of your mums wire wool scourer pads (ones with soap in ) and give that a try :)

So it's just a case of basicly scraping it off the disc? Is this also the case with the exhaust?

Cheers.

Brillo pads?, I'd leave the discs alone though

How much rust we talking on the disks, slight discolouration or full on "rust"?

I'll take a photo when I get home this evening, that'll be better than me trying to explain it and most likely getting it wrong :P

I wouldnt worry about that, thought you meant on the contact part where the pads clamp the disk under braking. Unless you have OCD and want to clean that up I should leave it.

Dave's right, that's nothing to worry about, merely cosmetic... Maybe you could consider cleaning the salt off it regularly at this time of year, if you leave that crap on your bike it'll all look like that disc spider before long. Have a read of the thread about bike cleaning here (http://www.wiltshirebikers.co.uk/cgi-bin/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1287819870) and think about getting some of that protection for it... :)

What's wrong with that??? Only a bit of surface.

Remone the disc and gently rub with wire wool. CLEAN AFTERWARDS!!!
