Hi all,

After brilliant ride on Wednesday I had a less pleasurable ride back home.

Silver Mercedes puls out from gas station - it was dark - I go around it and hit dark kerb on the reservation area :'( :'( :'(

Walking is a bit of a pain right now :-[, but nothing broken.

Back to subject.
Bike is located on A346 in a small village of Chiseldon just before M4 and Swindon.
Engine casing is broken and no oil to ride it. Other bits are missing too.

I need some recovery as I managed to use some friendly resident to park my bike.
At the same time I need insurance estimate and later repairs.

I am trying to contact local bike repair, as it is very close to where I live.

Any advise welcomed.

Thanks all and see you on the road soon I hope.

Sorry to hear this.

If it's an insurance job, make sure you speak to them asap and get advice from them. You're supposed to report incidents immediately otherwise it could invalidate your insurance. Only DIY recovery & repairs etc if insurer says to or refuses cover.

Good luck with it.

You have no breakdown cover I take it?

Have you informed your insurance people? They may be able to help get the bike back home, shouldnt be a problem if you have comprehensive cover? Give them a call, say you were in a state of shock if they question the delay ;)

I have only Third Party Fire & Theft
Also have LLoyds cover - but they say recovery is not included, and if for repairs they will take it only to the closest garage :(

I am going forward with my local garage than.

I am still in a shock as by faces on side :o :( >:( :'( :-[ :-X :-/ :-?

Thanks

There are recovery references on this site.
Hopefully they will be in touch once they are aware that you need assistance.
At least you live to tell the tale. Good to know you are OK :)

Have you managed to get this home / to the garage yet?

Did the Merc driver stop? If he caused the accident, he (or his insurance) should be paying for it...

Can you get hold of a cover & oil & ride it home? Keep an eye out on ebay, etc...

Bike is just behind a corner in a local bike garage.
Still waiting for estimate.

Story is that when police came in the Mercedes driver was long gone - so I am a bit fu... and have to DIY my bike as for now. And it looks costly even with ebay :'(:'(

I am trying to catch Swindon Council as policeman told me they are responsible for no light on these island on reservation area.
Fighting council will not be easy and it proves to be difficult so far :-X

Maybe you could check if the gas station has cctv to get reg plate of the Merc.

Got an estimate of full repair on genuine Suzuki parts

£4300

I can't believe it :o :o :o

Only downside is to find rear wheel - fronts are easily accessible.

That is bad news.

The fact that the traffic island wasn't lit must count against the council. When I went to check it on Friday, the bollard was still missing. There was a triangular warning sign, but it was lying face down.

I did not knocked it anyway :)
I have received forms from Swindon Council, so I will see how it will develop. I will post them on Monday.
Rob - have you made any photos by any chance :)
I am hoping to walk by Monday so I will drive there on Sunday - fingers crossed

I have seen my bike today.
Only front wheel is in need for replacement, both both kept the tire pressure :)
I hope I can squeeze my repair budget under £600.

All this and I will have still a pretty ugly looking bike - no cosmetic work will be done.
First day in office is a pain, can't walk unable to carry stuff uuuufffff, less to do as long weekend is coming.
