on my gpz1100 it has a single rear shock with an adjustable spring..if i were to wind the spring length down on the shock would this have the effect of lowering the ride height of the bike or does it just stiffen the rear suspension..otherwise is there another way of lowering the ride height by about an inch,,love my bike but just want to lower it slightly for my own safety..any suggestions please..

it may lower the bike slightly but it will deffo just stiffen the suspension. You probably need to buy a lowering kit as the damper determins how low the suspension will go

lowering kit or look at getting the seat resculpted, pretty cheap and wont change any handling characteristics

Winding the pre load won't affect the ride height. You'll need to change the length of the shock or fit a lowering kit.

a cheaper option is letting down the tyres ???? :)

Hi Al - I have some M-star boots by Daytona.
They give about an extra inch.
Some of it is on the outside so they do look a little "platform" but some of the extra height is also on the inside. So you get more height than is outwardly visible.

I think that Star has the ladystar version.

These cost about £350 in the UK, but I got mine direct from Germany where they are handmade at £250.
That's quite a lot of money I know, but bear in mind that you can then take that extra inch to any bike as well as being a very well made pair of boots that will last a long time.

I've got the Ladystar version on advice from Star (thanks again chick ;)) and they are worth every penny. I got them from eBay where I was lucky enough to get them for £88!
Might be worth having a look there Al.
