My Mate has just dropped his bike and snapped the brake fitting off (rear brake).
Does anyone know of anybody that can weld aluminium in the Chippenham area?

Thanks

Depends on the casting - if it has a high lead content then he will have to buy a new one, wont be weldable...

Have a look on ebay for a new one? Personally I wouldnt be happy with a brake that has been welded back together, no matter how good the welding? :-/

.... and snapped the brake fitting off (rear brake).

Can you be a bit more specific, is it the footrest bracket, the brake pedal, or something else?
Most Japanese bike ally is weldable, and it is only the back brake so it won't be getting en excessive amount of grief. I'd follow Jon's suggestion and have a chat with Toph.

Its on a zephyr 1100, I think its the bracket that mounts the footrests.

I've found Japanese Ali is usually good quality, even castings so welding shouldn't be a problem.
If you still need it welded, Pm me Mutt, and we'll arrange it! :)
