hi can any one shed light on my starting probs?

last week i pulled up at traffic lights and bike revs dropped and bike cut out went to start it but all got was a clicking from the starter relay so had to push it somewhere safe was gutted after a while i thought id try and bump start it worked ok after bumped it lol got home tried to start it fired up fine tried next day again fine went to fire her up this morning to go to the bike demonstration and all i got was clicking again so changed the starter relay with a spare i brought still same clicking noise im at a loss as to what the prob could be any one have any ideas its a vfr 750 1990 i got battery on charge at moment but i dont think that is prob as battery always seemed fine any ideas would be much appreciated

update charged battry for good few hrs started ok
maybe was battery lol sry

Invariably a battery problem.

Possible Honda regulator/rectifier problems, check with multimeter if battery is charging ok when engine is running. ;)

Check it is charging.... sounds like either a duff connection or the regulator / rectifier is on the blink.

Have you got an alarm by any chance? - might be draining the battery.

Charge level 12.6V at battery - fully charged 13.6V at Idle.
14-15V at 4000 rpm.

Reg recs are notorious on this bike

hi sry no alarm sry for delay in answering did my eye in last week bad scratch to left eye so only just about seeing stuff agine lol will check bike early next week when hopefully can see better thanks

Finned would be the new version - these arent great either, my CBR6 was on its third... :o
