All plastics off, tank & seat (store somewhere safe, indoors in boxes or hung from on top of the garage rafters to stop you treading on them/kicking them across the floor/swearing) carbs and exhaust, wiring unplugged (take photos, you may remember where everything goes now but 3 months later it will all be a mass of strange parts & bolts ;)), engine out, all other widgets, clocks (take photos), fairing frame(take photos), hang the bike frame from the garage rafters via a ratchet strap & remove the wheels, forks and swingarm.
ANYTHING that looks even slightly strange of complicated - (take photos) ;) Lots of them.

Swingarm out last methinks! Lay the frame etc on its side on your lawn - be prepared for a fight with the swingarm bolt... ;)
Use a suitable soft drift (Thor hammer, copper, plastic, wood etc) to avoid battering the bolt end threads. :)

my strip came to a hault due to work commitments.
today i finally dropped the engine out removed front forks tomorrow i will remove rear shock split frame and swing arm.
then its off to powder coating.
had a VERY stubborn engine mount bolt.....rounded allen key head off...screwed a pair of footprints shifting it.....it fonally gave up 45mins later with a pair of stilsons on it.
engine is going off to mates to have valves checked. from what i can see i have 1 very black looking valve :-/
gotta purchase some new bolts etc etc new bearings etc etc then i can start re-building.

one nice shiny frame :)
i have a problem though :( when trying to refit the swing arm pivot bolt it refuses to catch the thread.
i cant force it as it is starting to strip the thread .....real scared it will knacker the thread and leave my frame useless

hopefully have my engine back next week and can get that back in
lack of funds mean no new shock but that will be replaced at a later date.
i under estimated the build cost majorly so new shinys have taken a back seat for now.
my aim is just to get it back on road and then i can replace things when i have ££ ;D

after another break from my rebuild due to financial stress a update
engine back from mechanics ......valve clearances were shot to sh!t. 13 shims were needed....he said on paper my engine shouldn't have been running.
finances will not allow a new rear shock or front forks at the moment so the originals are back in.
engine is back in wiring loom all back in (that took some figuring out).
exhaust headers de-rusted and heat painted. with new gaskets fitted and stainless header bolts.
next is to source a new reg rec and refit charging system (after the reg rec blew for the 2nd time last year)
some small wiring connections to be done.
then refit cooling system.
here are some pics

ok long time since update.
engine back in
all associated cables and wiring all back in
all fresh fluids
i have fired her over on starter motor only ( i was told to do so with no ignition as where the engine had been sat dry for a long time the force of the ignition could jump the cam chain because there would be no oil pressure on the 1st crank over.)
so she turned over nicley.
now time to put exhaust on some new spark plugs.
and a new reg rec and then i will fire her up :)
still LOADS to rebuild entire braking system then the smaller stuff such as rebuilding foot rests ect.
wheels still need p-coating
i have a price for the bike to be carbon wrapped. but need tank to be airbrushed
few more months ahead of me yet ;D
ill get some more pics up :)

this build is really slow going :( mainly because of financial crap ;D
anyway here's a little pic of new rear brake line (yes i know there is a line clip missing)
will be re-fitting chain next week and then exhaust is going back on then that's the rear end done (apart from a new rear hugger)
then its onto front end ...new brake lines
then sort out the ignition and charging system
need 4 new plugs and a reg/rec
then i can fire her up. its taken me a year to get to this point so far :o :(
