Are there any mountain bikers out there? I live in Trowbridge and would love to go out for the odd morning/afternoon in the weekend (until Spring when evenings might be possible!) I cycle most weekends but need to drive a distance to meet friends and would like to meet some local bikers! Just back today from Afan Forest in Wales and on a high! Difficult to say what standard I am, as would obviously like to meet similar standard to me! Did one of the red trails in Afan - does that help?

Anyway whatever moutain biking you do it would be worth taking a look at the black canon collective - www.blackcanoncolective.co.uk based in Warminster / Longleat

I only really do DH, but as a club we do XC, and night rides take a look I'm sure you will find somthing there for you. :)

Mountain bikes don't they have those pedals you have to push around with your feet. Now two wheels without an engine is just too much like hard work, then there are those saddles designed to part you from your man bits.

I have to say I have been to the Black Cannon run and they have a few differnt DH runs. The main run which is used for times doesnt have many jumps on. There is a good mix as there are 1 or 2 other runs which are mostly used for jumps but you can take your own routes down and miss any jumps if you wanted. They had a 7 year old there last time I went who was actually really good.
- although when I say I have been I mean as camera lady rather than to actually do the runs. ;D

Hi,
we've got a website and facebook group for Wiltshire bike riders.
www.mbswindon.co.uk
we're working on a trail in Swindon, plus forming a club.

I've just spotted the earlier post with link (broken) to "croft community trails".
That's what we're working on, but there's still loads to do to get it up to scratch.

We do night rides most Fridays. Join our facebook group (Croft Trails) or mbswindon.co.uk for updates
Locally you've got:
-ridgeway (Swindon - Malborough)

wider:
Mendips
Cwm Carn (near Newport, Wales) cross country loop (hard) and a downhill track. The downhill can be ridden on a cross country bike.

Afan Argoed (near Port Talbot)
Forest of Dean loads of tracks, single track, downhill and the FODCA trail.

Wales also has Brechfa, Nan y Arian, Penmachno, Coed-y-Brenin, Betw-y-s-coed, Llandegla
All purpose built cross country trails.

There's loads of trails being built around the place, plus miles of bridleways.

Red Planet bikes in Swindon do Tuesday night rides.

I'm looking to get into some MB'ing this year and this makes interesting reading for a MB noob like myself as all I've done with the bike since I've got it is go to work and back (About a mile round trip....only danger is a poorly painted zebra crossing)

Will bring the bike up to Swindon at the next opportunity and try that trail.
