Hey all,
Does anyone like crayfish? I put a pot out last night and got more than me and gem can manage, if you want some let me know, free of coarse.

They're supposed to be infesting our rivers aren't they? I've never seen any. What do they taste like?

Depends how your gonna cook then, if just boiling them only a ten min purge in clean water then straight in for 5 mins n then cool them for a bit or deep frying in batter....yeh you eat the shell also, take their heads off n pull outbthe middle tail flipper (it's got the intestinal track attached) n hey presto, proper Jamie Oliver eh ;D

Will give it a go, can't be that hard. Don't know when I'll be able to pick them up though, how long will they last?

Do you know if these are our increasingly rare native crayfish or the larger American Signal variety which are a major pest? If it's the yankee ones I'll have a pot of them off you sometime.... it's getting to be as bad as their bloody grey squirrels (aka American Tree Rats) driving out our native red ones, grrr! >:( >:( >:(

These are red signal, I don't think there are any 'native' crays left anymore coz of these destructive Americans, it's a real shame the river Eco system is up the spout coz of these things,

I'm 23 and only ever seen one red squirrel 'in the wild' n I spend alot of time rambling about due to the nature of work

I'd love to take you up on the offer but I fear I am too much of a girl to be able to dispatch them ;D

In which case, if you're sure you're happy to do the dispatching for me, let me know when you next have to many and I will help with the effort to remove them from our waterways ;D
