Please can everyone collect 2 litre cylindrical coke, lemonade, cider etc bottles for our raft.
We need 300 bottles to hold the weight of 4 people.
Please could you bring them along to the harp and crown each Wednesday.
The raft is to be built by the end of July so we need them asap

Why dont you just get a 600ltr barrel,save a lot of hassle trying to tie and glue them together :)

The 25ltr barrels would be better, spread the weight and easier to deal with and obtain.
This size is used for chemicals for car washes etc, oil for chip shops etc so should be able to blag a few easily.
But then, is 2ltr bottles part of the rules?
It's part of our extremely cunning plan ;)
If everyone in the club could just collect a few bottles each, we should have no trouble getting enough. I've already got a bag full from my neighbours, so get asking (or drinking!)
Got 5 or so lying about myh flat will bring them up in the next couple of weeks :)

At 150kg a person maybe you need a smaller crew :-)

Why the end of July? Hope you're not thinking of testing it before the race as that's against the rules ::)
On a completely different note, the canal at Bathampton is very quiet and has good acess.......... ;)

we have quite a few bottles of coke and lemonade for cornwall so you can grab those once they get emptied (assumin ryan and mark dont try and burn them first :P)

No [smiley=engel017.gif] it's because I can't help with the construction of our water going vessel in August! :o you mean some people actually break the rules and test their rafts before hand ::) that's just not cricket ;D

Floating you isn't the issue.... it's working out where to put the handles so they can carry you to the water!!!! :o

Everybody welcome, meet in Trowbridge park with at least two 2litre bottles of cheap cider, we will start drinking there before weaving our way through town to Bargain Booze for refreshments / pastys / roadkill bellychurn sandwiches / half-abled theft & owner abuse before a quick kip on the benches and the final crawl to Longfield estate.
I reckon this to give us enough bottles to build a frickin' Ark, never mind a boat! We can stick a motor in it Scrapyard Challenge fashion & lap the barstewards!
Win-win situation. :D :D

why don't you go to one of those plastic bottle recycling stations and take 'em all.... it's not stealing as you're only borrowing them, you put them back after the raft race.!!! :D :D :D ;) ;) ::) ::) ;D

I've got about 10 bottles but on nights at the mo so unless someone wants to come and get them from me it'll be a while before they find their way to the H&C, btw, any ideas on how many we have?

Have just been up recycle centre at Bowerhill. They are gonna collect all bottles over next couple of days for it. Gotta sort through all bottles tomorrow for ones we need....

Can you please bring your raft down to the bottom of The Olympiad by 09.30 am on Saturday where you can register and the raft will be scrutineered. Don't worry if you are a bit late, just phone Jenni Reeves when you arrive on 07977 696990. A cheque for £10 per person would also be appreciated when you arrive!
Rafts will be parked on a grassy area near there, so it's no distance to the launching pontoon.
First heats are at 12.00, second heats at 1.30 pm, finals are at 3pm, followed by the presentations.
Good rafting!
