This poor elderly...sorry, senior citizen was just driving to meet a friend, albeit on the wrong side of the road and the wrong way around a round-a-bout, and those b*stard from Essex police arrested her (againt her will and without her permission I might add) just because she refused to stop and when she did stop she basically told them to get stuffed and tried to carry on. Luckily she has the sense to appeal and said she's taking her case to the old bailey!

Put a cushion under your jaw for this one as it will hit the f'ing floor!

Why just a 12 month ban? Why should she ever have her licence back? I doubt her driving will have improved 12 months down the line. The law in this country is a joke. >:(

+1 i still maintain that after 65 you should have to retake your test every 5 years...or at least some variation of the test, so many elderly people are a hazard its just unreal

+2 Hopefully no insurance company will insure her after this, that at least should keep her off the road.

You tend to notice the people who drive badly far more than the ones who drive well which gives the impression we are knee deep in bad drivers out there. Having said that Ghost comes home most nights having had at least one attempt on his life on his daily commute. :o

I agree that there should be a driving assessment on a regular basis, I'd be happy to take it myself. A medical assessment is not enough.
